I truely enjoyed Joe McGinnis's last piece of work.
Rest in Peace Joe!
McGinnis' research into telling us the true character of Sarah Palin was extensive.
The Joe McGinnis Obituary in Time Magazine this week of 3/17/14 was incorrect in stating that this
work was largely pieced together with articles. He lays out page by page in this book all of the
former Palin Staffers, friends, neighbors and family that he interviewed in Wasilla and all over Alaska
that pieced together this chilling and sad commentary on John McCain;s and Alaska's big mistake.
The story of her marriage and family life is truely sadenning. I can see why she fits in so well with the
"FOX News Family" and was so loudly supported by Glenn Beck.

Sarah Palin was elected as a dark horse to replace the worst governor we ever had. She showed us just how bad it could be. John McCain had a bad record of making bad snap judgments. I.E. going against orders and getting shot down. after that, Sarah was his worst snap judgement call since then and torpedoed his chance at the presidency.

I didn't like her before I read it and I like her even less after reading the book. The difference is now I know why, for sure. What a phony individual, who is so self centered I don't know how she would ever do our society any good. Joe McGinnis is a great writer and I have read many of his books, He investigates his subject and talks to many people before he even sets pen to paper. Sara Palin is bad news, all she is looking for is the public spotlight and the attention. Read it and see for yourself!

This book, through use of interviews primarily, paints a picture of what happens when a mean-spirited being is also intellectually challenged. I, being one who leans strongly to the left, very much enjoyed having my beliefs and observations of this woman validated. I found the book easy to read and hard to put down.

This book gave a pretty good insight to Mrs. Palin. After reading this book and another about her, I don't understand why she's still given so much attention - people like me, l guess, who want to understand her appeal. I still don't. McGinnis wrote clearly and the book was easy to read. It was enjoyable and informative and, even though a lot of the people he interviewed (or tried to) didn't want their names mentioned due to fear of reprisal from the Palins, he still managed to paint a well rounded portrait. I have already loaned it to a friend and recommend it.

I delayed purchasing this for some time due to McGinniss' bad behavior in trying to sabotage other authors works. And, by the time The Rogue came out, many others head beat McGinniss to the punch regarding the subject matter. The book was well-written as I would expect of Joe McGinniss, but it is as I expected--there really wasn't much new information that hadn't already been researched and covered by other authors. I did tire of hearing about the grebes on the lake. That part felt like he was trying too hard to present himself as an outdoorsy type. Not a bad read, but by this stage in the exposure of Palin to the public, it seemed like old news. There is no doubt in my mind Ms. Palin has far worse skeletons in her closet that remain to be unearthed.

Honestly, the content of her character that McGinniss relays to us is essentially how I imagined she treated people and what she really is. As one person states "They bully the most vulnerable parts of the society --- young women, children, gays, the poor.". None of it appears fabricated. There is no perverted element to how he researches the subject of his book. Some people seemed ecstatic to share their stories and memories of Sarah and Todd when they were younger and who they still are today. Politicians are mostly making bank, but she's evidence of the dangerous aspect of evangelicalism in right wing politics. How much using religion helps put these people in office

Joe McGinniss wrote this book so it would be published in time for a potential Palin 2012 candidacy, which thankfully never happened. Still, it's worth reading to get a good understanding on the Dominionist sects and how they shaped Palin's beliefs and are a major influence in Ted Cruz's current campaign. You're not going to find a lot in here that you haven't read already but there are plenty of solid on-the-record interviews that prove Palin's "mean girl," know-nothing reputation is well-earned.
