Rogues and Rascals inGoose Pimple Junction by Amy Metz is a delicious murder mystery that isan absolute delight to read. I absolutely adored Goose Pimple Junctionand its inhabitants. I am looking forward to reading all of the GoosePimple Junction books. The characters are endearing and I have fallencompletely in love with them. The Mama-isms are a wonderful and charming addition to the book and I believe I will adopt a few of them. Readingthis book is a pleasant experience and I recommend it to everyone whoenjoys a nice, comfortable, down-home southern murder mystery.

Rogues & Rascals in Goose Pimple Junction is the fourth book in this fun and entertaining series by Amy Metz. I’ve enjoyed each book. Although each book “stars” a different protagonist, characters from previous stories make appearances throughout the books—and what interesting (AKA: quirky) characters they are! The ‘Mama always said’ sayings at the beginning of each chapter made me chuckle. The author has included plenty of warmth and humor in this book. I laughed out loud when Louetta was ‘testing’ Tess on the meaning of the townspeople’s unique way with words. So funny!
I’ve really enjoyed spending time in Goose Pimple Junction. I think GPJ would be a great place to live (you know, if it was a real place with no murders—LOL!). I would love to see Hank (such a sweet guy—I really like him) find someone special. I’m keeping my fingers crossed Book 5 is on the way. Although it isn’t absolutely necessary, I do recommend reading these books in order. Doing so will give you the opportunity to get to know and love the engaging people who inhabit GPJ. Happy reading!
Goose Pimple Junction a southern town in the state of Tennessee up till a while back was a quiet town, dripping with lots of Southern Charm; basically all the residents were happy.
Caledonia Culpepper was raised by her mama to be gracious, charming, witty, and above all, a devoted mother and loving wife, so she's baffled when her marriage falls apart to Phil. So when she begins to suspect that Phil is having an affair with a local attorney Dee Dee Caledonia tries everything to win her husband back. The fancy new dresses, dinner out but nothing is working and Phil leaves.
Tess and Jack have married and quickly become involved with helping Caledonia when Phil sues for divorce. Martha Maye and her mom Louretta (owner of the book store) and JuneBug and Slick from the diner.
A stranger named Wynona Baxter comes to town, a master of disguise and female hit woman. You do not know why Wynona is in town and who she has been hired by till almost the end of the book. So if you want instant knowledge you won’t find it with this storyline.
As a second storyline Jimmy Dean, his dad is a local attorney, you never really know anything about the mother, but dad’s answer to everything is pulling out his checkbook when Jimmy Dean acts out. Jimmy Dean catches on to Wynona and the interaction between them looks like a possible story to come.
Bad boy Jimmy Dean was observed smashing the school windows by Caledonia and when Daddy and his checkbook try to buy her off Caledonia refuses. Many times the story lines intertwine between Caledonia and her divorce and Caledonia and Jimmy Dean.
I love all the names that are used in the storyline; there is even reference to the name of Caledonia’s children Pickle and Peanut. There was a small storyline that for a few minutes will make the reader think something else will be developed but that is dropped. I am thinking for maybe another book.
If you haven’t read this series I would recommend you start with book 1 and go to 3, it will assist you with the development of the characters and get a real feeling for the town of Goose Pimple Junction.
Then you pop in some old time southern sayings and you get a mystery that is just plain fun to read.
