I bought a bunch of 1/2" #4 screws to go with these and they are perfect for garage storage shelves. They are extremely sturdy obviously, but another great benefit is you can install these pins right side up or upside down to adjust the height of the shelves by about 3/8". Which doesn't sound like a big deal, but if you're building an organizational shelf system with specific organizers, its great to be able to fine tune it to hold the maximum amount of organizers.

I used a Kreg 5mm pin jig to drill the pin holes for these, and it worked great. Be aware that not all pin systems are 5mm.
