Pros: Sharper than any other lens I own. The Sony 50 1.8 is pretty sharp, maybe even as sharp. Of course the lens is manual focus, not a problem for a camera with focus peaking. At f8 and set to infinity everything is tack sharp anyway so you don't even need to focus for anything a few feet out. On a sony crop sensor it's actually a 31.5mm lens - its close enough to the focal length of your iPhone that you could use that to see approximately what you'd be looking at.
I bought this lens because it is much faster than the Sony 18-105g which went to a max aperture of 4 - this goes to f1.4 max - its highly useable at 1.4 but looks nearly perfect stopped down, it's much wider than the 50mm 1.8 which is a 75mm equivalent, and it has really low distortion, the pictures attached have not been corrected for distortion.
I will say the way it renders an image is far more beautiful than the 18-105g, which often looked muddy. This lens is crisp. For the price? I don't think it can be beat.
I was torn between this and the 12mm f2 - I think I'll buy both.
If you are used to manual focus, this is a solid lens. I've been spoiled by auto-focus so I will be sticking with lenses that have that feature. The focus ring is pretty smooth as well as the aperture ring. Colors turn out very nice and the bokeh is awesome!
