I have had this unit for about a month now and I'm very happy with my purchase. I have used/owned Rol-air products in the past and have always found them to be very well made and reliable. This unit has proven to be no exception. The pump is quick to fill the tanks. Unlike cheaper units the motor is rated for continuous duty and Rol-air uses copper tubing to better dissipate heat. My unit was purchased through Acme Tools - it arrived with a broken pressure gauge for the tank pressure (no affect on operation so I still used the unit). I called them and was very happy with the prompt customer service. The manufacturer shipped a new gauge and it arrived about a week later. Replacement was simple. One item I will replace is the tank drain valves - for some reason Rol-air continues to use the cheap brass screw type valves. Do yourself a favor and swap them out for a stainless steel ball valve assembly, faster to drain the tanks and they never freeze up. I'd give it 5 stars if it came with better drain valves - it annoys me when manufacturers build a fantastic product but go cheap on small items like gauges and valves - I'd pay $50 more for the same unit if it came with better gauges and the aforementioned valves.

I bought this particular compressor for my piano shop. After using a craftsman 20 gal 240 volt machine for 30 years I decided to lighten the load. While this unit is far from quiet, I can at least talk over this one compared to my Sears unit, and, while a lot lighter, it runs my impact wrenches and our tuningpin remover just superbly. It fills my 40 gallon portable air tank quickly as well, so, they call this compressor "the bull" and and hey! it is, without any BS. :-) lol.If you want air, with plenty to spare, and enough for a couple tools to share, well guess what! you can take your bull anywhere, any time any day, this is most definitely worth what you pay, for the one who needs air with a compressor that doesn't play. If there was a higher rating on Amazon than 5, you'd better believe I give this big bad bull as high of rating as I could. So, with that said, I hope this helps you in your decision to buy this machine. Trust me! you will not be disappointed. Thank you for reading, and now? let's get to work! pump it up, pump pump pump pump it up!

P.S. let me mention one moreimportant thing, Please! make sure you check your dip stick for oil level. It comes filled, but, mine was a tad bit low, ok? See ya next time around for another review on Amazon. Have a good summer.

I think Rolair makes the best compressors on the market. I've had this unit for about 18 months now and it has performed flawlessly. When remodeling a house with a few people I put a manifold on it so we could run a floor nailer, 15 gauge nailer, and a framer all at the same time. This did not strain the compressor at all; it kept up just fine. It is the quietest compressor I have ever owned, and probably one of the quietest I have ever used. Rolair makes a good product and I think I am going to purchase one of their larger compressors for my garage. I was also considering the IR twin-stack, but I read about some quality control problems IR was having with their compressors and decided against it. No regrets with the Rolair. I think I have seen this exact same compressor at Mendard's branded as a Masterforce. FYI...Masterforce also places their name on Stabila levels.

I really like this air compressor. It is quieter than I expected, and quickly reaches full capacity. The only con I can think of is the grip on the handle. As some reviewers have said, the grip digs into your hand. I'm not sure if it's designed this way in case the handle gets slippery, but I'm currently looking for a sleeve to fit over the grip. Again, not a big issue.

Bought this to replace a $99 Craftsman 2 gallon that wore out after 10 years. This was cheaper and more capacity. Noise seems about the same. A friend has the 6 gal. Porter-Cable model that has 2 air outlets to use 2 attachments at a time. That was the only other feature I wanted but thought maybe I'd buy that part later and add it. But oddly enough my compressor came with that dual outlet. The picture on the box, the Amazon ad, the owner's manual, etc all showed it with one outlet. I wonder if they are starting to include 2 now, or the guy assembling mine just reached into the wrong parts bin or they were temporarily out. Also another weird thing was there was an extra little red power switch loose in the bottom of the shipping box.

Unit was delivered in original packing box - no overwrap - and it had been opened before delivery. I suspected a returned unit, which worried me because the supplied air filter was not attached, though the units should not be run without it. Rol-Air does claim to test run all of these imported units, so perhaps that explains its status, though not the lack of an attached filter. The filter is difficult to screw in - you must push the two air tanks away with one hand to get it inserted. No warranty statement or registration card was packed (it is 1 year) and their literature states either an initial oil change after 5 hours or 50 hours, depending upon which text you follow! As noted by others, the two tank bleed valves are pathetic, difficult to turn, and put your hand directly into the air stream (they advise no bleeding until tank pressures drop to 10 psi). If you foresee a lot of needed mobility, a wheeled unit may be advised. The unit is hardly silent but only moderately noisy and so far, it has started and run with no circuit breaker trips. Haven't owned or run it long enough to comment on reliability but this company needs to more closely review its overseas-produced literature (guess where!) and upgrade the drain valves (apparently in the works).
