This game was a disaster since it's conception. Atari went through a bankruptcy at some point, and RCT was up for sale. No one wanted to buy it. Atari finally got it together to push this game through. It was lost at first, intended to be a mobile-style game but that was quickly scrapped when there was a huge negative reaction. This game has gone through 3 different developers, with bits of code salvaged each time and revamped. You know how that's gonna go already. During this time, Frontier, the original devs from RCT3, started working on their own game, Planet Coaster. Planet Coaster is much, MUCH more in-depth, just watch any videos on YouTube. Anyway, when it became apparent that Planet Coaster was going to be more successful during the alpha phase, and AFTER Frontier announced the release date for Planet Coaster, Atari came out and announced the release of RCTW which happened to be the day before Planet Coaster's release. RED FLAG.
This game is not ready to be released, it's not optimized, it is buggy, peeps are shallow, the graphics could be better (water looks terrible imo), the UI is weird. This is NOT the RCT series we have come to love over the years. This is the equivalent of Sim City 2013 to the Sim City franchise, to put it nicely. If you need some proof that go and watch videos of both RCTW and Planet Coaster. The only saving grace is that RCTW has more flat rides than Planet Coaster. To me, more content is something that can be added, but a bad engine is something that can't be changed. If you like Roller Coaster Tycoon type games, look up Planet Coaster or the yet-to-be-released Parkitect.
Update (11/18/2016)- this game is so awful, I can't even. VERY LIMITING, VERY ACHIEVEMENT ORIENTED. And I guess they never gave up on the mobile thing because I found out they released Roller Coaster Tycoon Touch at the same time. If you are wondering why RCTW sucks, it's because they were focused on their equally bad mobile counterpart at the same time. Nevermind the fact that they already have RCT Mobile. Sigh....
However since the full release I was presently surprised that the game ran smooth the peeps are a bit more detailed. I like the progressive story mode, downfall would be there isn't away to have 2 separate accounts in the story mode. There are some tweaks that need to be done like paths being a little easier to build, also could use some more scenery like planet coast but all in all its 100 % improvement over the beta.
