***************
This first book of The Bregdan Chronicles historical fiction series will pull you in and never let you go. You'll experience the Civil War era (and all the years to come) through the eyes of both White and Black, Free & Slave, Southern & Northern - and you'll fall in love with every character.
Review: I never thought I would find a series to enthrall me like The Bregdan Chronicles has. I was wrong! I am struggling to find appropriate words to describe the awe I am in, and find myself failing miserably. I absolutely could not put these books down. I would finish one, and immediately hop online to go get the next one, sometimes in the wee hours of the morning, when my tail should have been asleep. The writing style of this author brings you right into the story as if you are a part of it. She has amazing talent to capture the imagination, and bring you right into a virtual reality. I have fallen in love with every one of these characters - especially the strong women! - and have become completely entranced with each life represented.
The historical account of this time period was so right on, so very vivid, you almost feel like you've walked right into it. These books became so alive, I actually had dreams at night of battle. (I'm not even kidding.) But it goes further. There were conversations in these books that had me reading over them several times. Life lessons. Sage advice. The kind of wisdom that comes from every day life. Moments that were so profound, they pierced my heart with an accuracy that I can't even begin to explain.
Many times, the lives and hearts of each character were changed and rocked with revelation that came about in a moment, yet, so deeply touching the deepest recesses of the heart, that you can't go beyond it, without it having changed you as well, as you read it.
Thank you, Ginny Dye, not only for an amazing journey, but for those light bulb moments throughout each book, that reached beyond the pages, and made their home inside the soul. What can I say overall? Well, let me put it like this: these books are like... "Gone with the Wind" meets up with "Eat, Pray, Love"; then whispers some "Secret life of Bees", forges some "Steel Magnolia's", and at times, wraps itself with the "Color Purple." Sigh. Did I mention how much I loved these books?

About the Author
Ginny would love to get to know every single person who reads her books. Since that isn't possible she can at least let you get to know her a little. Born in North Carolina, she is a wanderer at heart. She has lived all over the United States, exploring every state and having wonderful adventures along the way. She has managed horse ranches in Texas and Oregon; worked with teenagers all over the country (she love them!), and has hiked, biked, rafted and played in every locale she could.
She loves all the beaches, deserts, woods, and mountains she has traveled through but when she discovered Washington, she discovered home. Her heart is at home there with the snow covered mountains; the glistening waters of the Pacific; the eagles and Orca whales; the towering fir trees surrounding her home; and the miles of trails on her own Magic Mountain.
Everywhere she looks inspires her to be all she can be - to follow and achieve all the dreams of her heart! She managed to write and publish 16 books along the way. She enjoys writing many different genres but admits Historical Fiction is her favorite. She is quite sure she will never live long enough to write all her heart and mind holds, but she certainly intends to try!
She is also the Founder of I Am A Voice In The World. This fabulous organization is committed to creating a world-wide community of people with a passion to make a difference and live their best life - using the multitude of FREE resources provided.
Her life will forever be a journey. She knows she will never get to the place where she thinks she has "arrived". The more she learns - the more she knows she doesn't know! Yet. what joy she receives by sharing the light she has... She would love to hear from you at BregdanChronicles.net

About the author

Hello Readers!
I was only 16 years old when my dying grandfather called me to his bedside, took my hand and said, "You have the gift of writing that I never used. Whatever you do, don't let it go to waste like I did."
Scared I wasn't as talented as my beloved "Dandy", I quit writing. 14 years later, bedridden in California from one of the first diagnosed cases of Epstein-Barr Virus, this athletic, active woman wrote her first book to keep from going crazy. I finished the book, got better, and stuffed the book in an envelope - never intending to do anything with it.
3 and a 1/2 years later the book was discovered by a friend who then proceeded to harangue me about publication. Worn down, I finally submitted it. It was my first book published. Almost 25 years later, there are now 50+ books published, but that is just the beginning. I have so many more inside me!
I believe in the power of the written word to change lives. I also believe that historical novels can implant the Bregdan Principle in people's hearts and minds.
The Bregdan Principle...Every life that has been lived until today is a part of the woven braid of life. It takes every person's story to create history. Your life will help determine the course of history. You may think you don't have much of an impact. You do. Every action you take will reflect in someone else's life. Someone else's decisions. Someone else's future. Both good and bad.
My passion is to write powerful and entertaining historical fiction through the sweeping saga called the Bregdan Chronicles.
I am also passionate about the Bregdan Woman Journals, my BEST EVER DREAM Series, the Pepper Crest High Series, my World Changer Series, and everything else that can be communicated via writing! Basically - I'm just PASSIONATE!
When I decided to write Children's books, I never imagined how much FUN I would have! The fact that children and parents love them so much makes it even MORE FUN! I started with the BEST EVER DREAM Series - that will grow to 50+ titles in 2018. I write these under the pen name, Kika Michi. I hope you'll read them all!
I will admit writing is not my only passion, however. I am also the CEO and Founder of Millions For Positive Change. This amazing organization is committed to providing all the resources people need to make a difference with their life - and mobilizing them all over the world. Want to make a difference? What to know your life counts? Go to www.MillionsForPositiveChange.com.
And when I'm not writing or running my company? I love anything outdoors, but tops on my list are hiking in the mountains with my dog, rowing, biking, swimming, tennis, windsurfing, snowshoeing... I have a very big "tops on my list"!
Mostly, I am just very happy to have you in my world! You can come visit me anytime at www.BregdanPublishing.com!

Blessings to you!

The South rides the tiger of slavery, from which they dare not dismount. Thomas Cromwell is torn. He has a large and successful plantation run by slaves. He believes in the institution of slavery, but he loves his country. He sees that succession and civil war are coming and be believes that the war will bring an end to everything he cares about. He is determined to be the voice of reason and dissuade his fellow Virginians from heeding the siren call of the cotton states.
Cromwell’s daughter, Carey is a strong and independent young woman. She loves the plantation and at the same time feels stifled by it. She has ambitions to become a doctor and has had a lot of practice treating slaves on the plantation for their illnesses. She is strongly emotionally attached to the slaves on the plantation and has come to wonder if slavery is an evil.
Rose is Carey’s body servant. She is intelligent and literate and she secretly teaches the other slaves on the plantation to read. She would like nothing more than to be free, but when the chance comes to escape via the underground railway, she cannot leave her aging mother.
Dye’s characters are complex and compelling and she shows a profound knowledge of the issues of the day. I look forward to reading the subsequent novels.

It covers various topics, the rich plantation owner with a daughter who has been brought up as more independent than many of her peers. The politics of the time, the slave trade, owners and abolitionists, the struggle of the slaves to be allowed their freedom or even freedom to learn to read and write.
The friendship of Carrie Cromwell with the slaves on her father’s plantation, her thoughts on the treatment of slaves, her thoughts on the independence of women and the faith of Carrie and others in God.
Unfortunately the book was spoiled a little bit by silly errors and typos but overall an interesting insight into the ways of the life of plantation owners, their slaves and politics leading to the Civil War.
