Jack Prelutsky has a style of writing that both entertains children and encourages them to love poetry. His poems each have an amusing twist in their endings. "Rolling Harvey Down the Hill" is a group of poems that tell stories from the author's childhood. The humor Jack Prelutsky's depicts in his childhood tales remind me of some of Bill Cosby's childhood stories. As a teacher I have read this book to children aged 2nd-5th grade and I have also read it to my own children. Jack Prelutsky is my favorite children's poet and "Rolling Harvey Down the Hill" is my favorite of his books.

This is one of my favorite read-aloud books! My fifth grade students loved it years ago, my son loved it when he was little, and my three year old grandson loves it now! He asks to have it read over and over. It is written in the form of poems, and kids love the repetition of words and sentences in the book! This can be enjoyed by children of various ages. I am very happy with the condition of this book, which is used and fairly old. Great purchase!!!

This is the book that we used to introduce our daughter to memorized poetry. It worked! although the nuns at her school questioned our values. Twenty years later, my daughter still loves poetry.

I used this book in a kids' camp exercise about peace and justice. It worked very well. The children got the message and enjoyed the poetry.
