This was my first foray into the Aerie Doms series and while I wasn't overly impressed with this, I am willing to try another one because I do like the premise.
This was just okay for me, I have issues with the Amazing Race to the "L" bomb when it's ridiculous even by the story-line's standards. The timeline the story progresses at is just too short for me to buy into. I felt that entire story was hinged on getting to the end rather than a story that draws to a close naturally. Perhaps that's not articulated as well as it could be, but it's the best I can do at the moment. I felt this had a great beginning, a disappointing end, and no clear middle. It's also shorter than I anticipated ending at the 43% mark (location 484 of 1105) on my Kindle and followed by previews of other books.
This is supposed to be BDSM erotica... there wasn't really much of that explored here. Roman is a decent alpha male, but he is admittedly NOT a Dom. This is probably more suited to be looked at as a short erotic romance rather than BDSM erotica. I would recommend this as an erotic romance to those that don't have progression issues, but not as a BDSM story.
Bottom line- two people fall in love (or lust) at first sight and live on happily ever after. If that's your type of story, you'll love this little short.
My version was composed of 44% for Roman and Juliet and the rest composed of an intro to book 1 of the Aerie doms book series.
Maybe its just me but I have a hard time getting into the whole "I've met you once or twice and I love you" thing. There has got to be more than great sex = love. And since that's basically what this was, a lot of the details were pointless (unless they bear significance in a subsequent book).
Juliet is basically a defect at a BDSM club because she is so delicate and young looking. In walks cowboy Roman who knows almost nothing about BDSM but pretends to be a dom. They spend the night playing and they go their separate ways until the meddling club owner sends Juliet to Roman on his ranch. They spend another evening together and decide they "love" each other. The End. B.O.R.I.N.G.

Setting: Denver, Colorado
Characters: Juliet Howard, Roman Grainger, Xavier Greer,
Synopsis: Juliet is a submissive whom most dominants won't touch because she looks very frail and fragile with white/silver blonde hair and huge doe eyes. Juliet likes it rough though and is saddened by the few men who given her a second look at The Aerie (a BDSM club in Denver, Colorado). Until, that is, the sexiest cowboy she's ever seen steps out of her fantasies and walks into the club. Can Roman and Juliet make a connection?
Review: This was a good novella. Took about an hour to read and was very enjoyable since it was the fourth book in a series. You don't feel like you are missing anything not having read other books in this series. The characters were dynamic and well rounded. Thacher is a quality writer. My only complain is that of the "book," only about ½ of the book was the novella and the other ½ were the first chapters of her other three books in the Aerie Doms series. Granted, this wasn't so bad since they were all pretty good reads and enticed me to look up the other books. I just felt tricked that I would be reading more than what I had in front of me.
