What happens when you add a big city woman new to a small town, a widowed man, an adorably precocious child, and a mischievous rabbit? Spring Blessings, a sweet and heartwarming romance! I instantly liked Nico. He's a bit shy and quiet and an all around great guy. I really admired Charlotte's determination. This was the first time I've read anything by Mary Jane Hathaway, but won't be the last. Loved this!
Loaves and Wishes (A Baxter Family Bakery Romance) by Elizabeth Maddrey
When Ruth inherits a B&B from her best friend, she can't help but be drawn to the farmer across the street, Corban. This was a great story with a really cute romance. I'm very much looking forward to reading the Baxter brothers' stories (especially Malachi's).
Sheltered Hearts (Romance from the Heart) by Lee Tobin McClain
When a snowstorm shuts down all the roads, Alex and Patricia become stranded at his family Mexican restaurant El Corazon where they discover not everything is as it appears. I loved this first story of Lee Tobin McClain's that I read. It was a very sweet romance and I can't wait to read more about the Quintana family and visit El Corazon again.
Sow in Love (A Garden Grown Romance) by Valerie Comer
A real estate consultant clashes with the grandson of the owner of the latest property she's in charge of. Both Grady and Joanna have trust issues, having been hurt badly by people they thought loved them. I liked watching them grow and learn to trust one another. This was another great one from Comer and I can't wait to see what she has in store for this series.
The Scent of Romance (Legacy of the Heart) by Danica Favorite
Caroline's parent's, aunts, and uncles plan to sell the family farm for millions and turn it into a resort community with the help of a big time lawyer. She's furious and vows to not let that happen. This was a fantastic story, maybe my favorite in this collection. Gram was my fave character. Her spunky and feisty nature reminded me a little of my own grandma. This was the first time I've read anything by Danica Favorite and I completely loved it! I'm really looking forward to reading the rest of the Legacy of the Heart series!
A Romance Rekindled (A Homegrown Love Story) by Annalisa Daughety
Back in Arcadia Valley after eleven years and overseeing the renovations of her childhood home and her dad's office at the farmer's market, Kate is constantly finding herself in the company of Drew, her former flame. This was a great story about second chances. It had a bit of a somber beginning, but that didn't dampen my enjoyment one bit. I've read a couple of Daughety's past books and this one is just as good as those. Can't wait for the rest of this series!
I'm so excited about Arcadia Valley. What a fantastic concept for a series! Due to my allergies and chemical sensitivities, over the past few years I've become very passionate about eating organic and living a healthier life in general. So when I heard about this series, I was thrilled! I love the town of Arcadia Valley and the closeness of the community; how everyone supports everyone else and the passion for supporting local farmers, sustainable living, etc. It's a town I wish were real because I'd love to call it home. There's a quote in A Romance Rekindled, “Know your farmer, know your food,” that I think exemplifies a big part of this series and my mindset, as well. I also really liked that there was a strong focus on God in each novella. All six of the stories in this collection were excellent and I can't wait to read the full length ones that go along with them! Highly recommend!
I loved the quotes at the beginning of each chapter, because they remind me of my old Victorian novels. I also enjoyed the children’s books that were woven into the story. One of my favorite quotes was: “…hope tugged at her heart. God was faithful & she needed to trust that He knew the best way to make her dreams a reality.” AND there is a yummy recipe at the end! A new author to me, and I look forward to reading more of her books.
2. Loaves and Wishes by Elizabeth Maddrey
A charming & wonderful story where I found myself wanting to try making the different types of bread right along with Ruth Baxter! It’s a story of second chances and learning to trust. I LOVE this quote: “…the insignificance of man when faced with the God who could create something so magnificent with just A WORD.” Another great story by this great author!
3. Sheltered Hearts by Lee Tobin McClain
I very much enjoyed this first story that I have read by this author. It’s a heart-warming story of things not really being what they seem, of discovering the real person inside, & of how unplanned things can be part of God’s plan. My favorite quotes were: “It doesn’t matter what men think of me, it matters what God thinks of me” “…defined by no one’s opinion other than God’s.” It’s truly “romance from the heart!”
4. Sow in Love by Valerie Comer
In this story, Joanna & Grady learn what true love really is, while finding a way to help their community and make a difference. There were so many wonderful little nuggets like: “all is not what it seems…We get the idea we know what the terrain looks like, but there are hidden pitfalls…Our personalities & gifts are given from God for His use. We just need to let Him hone them…” and my favorite: “We long to gaze upon beauty.”
This is sprinkled with humor, making it a fun story to read.
5. The Scent of Romance by Danica Favorite
A moving story about Hayden and Caroline not measuring up to what their parents wanted for them, and Hayden trying to earn his father’s love. It’s a story of forgiveness and reconciliation. I loved this quote: “God’s love wasn’t about getting what you wanted all the time, but trusting in God’s plan that it would all work out for good.” and “no matter what a man’s earthly father said or did, his Heavenly Father welcomed him with open arms & called him son.” A great story showing that God doesn’t forget us!
6. A Romance Rekindled by Annalisa Daughety
I enjoyed this wonderful story of two people having to fully deal with their past and forgive each other, to be able to have a future. I loved: “when I look back on my life, I have more things to celebrate than I do to regret.” and: “lean on Jesus. He is your safe place…lean on them (others), too. That is how you get through the hard times.” I will definitely read more of this author’s books.
Great story! I loved all of the characters and the story line was wonderful too. Such a sweet romance. I would love to read more in this series.
Loaves and Wishes by Elizabeth Maddrey
I really like Ruth & Corbin's story. They were easy to get to know along with some of the other characters. The dialogue flowed well and I thought the story flowed well too.
Sheltered Hearts by Lee Tobin McClain
It took a couple of chapters for me to get into this story, but I ended up really enjoying it.
Sow in Love by Valerie Comer
This was a short, sweet story that I finished in no time at all. Joanna and Grady fit well together. The dialogue and story line flowed well.
The Scent of Romance by Danica Favorite
I had trouble getting into Hayden & Caroline's story. The dialogue didn't always flow the way I thought it should. And some of their actions didn't feel right either.
A Romance Rekindled by Annalisa Daughtery
I really loved this part of the story of Arcadia Valley. Well written and easy to read.
