This is some of the best YA fiction I've ever read and Leah Rae Miller is officially my favorite YA author.
Can't wait for her next book.
This book takes us on Dan’s journey. He’s a nerd, but a nerd that, through a twist of fate, became athletically inclined and popular through basketball stardom. This is something his once friend Zelda isn’t too thrilled about. They had been friends years ago, until Dan was forced into this new life of sports and popularity. But Dan isn’t all thrilled about his new social status either. In fact, he wants to be left alone and could care less that now everyone wants to be his friend. This aspect of his personality I really liked. The book would’ve been ruined, otherwise. In fact, I really enjoyed Dan’s character, more so than Zelda, and thought he was a super-cutie.
In the beginning of the book, Zelda gets angry with Dan and hatches a revenge scheme of sorts. But like all great romance revenge stories it backfires and Dan ends up wooing her in the end. I did enjoy the two characters throughout the book, even if Zelda did annoy me at times. I would’ve liked to have seen just a tad more romance like the first book. In fact, there was no major “falling” moment or “coming together” which left the reader wanting just a bit.
Overall, this was a cute book and definitely filled with a good heaping dose of nerdiness like the first.
Oh, and I loved that Maddie and Logan appeared in this novel, but what I would LOVE even more is a sequel to their story!! Hint… Hint… Lean Rae Miller.
I received this book for free from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
