Garrett is the marshal and a friend of Lucas' who takes Rosalie to her cousin's house since she had bought supplies to last several months and he had a wagon. She didn't think much of him because the first time she saw him he was tossed out of a saloon and a "lady of the night" was calling to him to come back in.
What kind people Audra and Lucas are to let Rosalie stay with them, especially when she is due to have her first baby any day. Rosalie learns how to cook and helps with the chores. Which is a good thing because when Audra goes into labor, Rosalie stays to care for the animals. When Garrett learns Rosalie is alone he goes to check on her. When a blizzard blows in they are both stranded there together making it hard for them to ignore their attraction.
I loved what a strong woman Rosalie was. She wouldn't put up with marrying just because she was suppose to but had enough pride in herself to leave. It took a lot of courage to travel from Boston to Cascade Creek on her own. She was a woman before her time.
Even though Rosalie didn't get a good first impression of Garrett she did like him as she got to know him. He was a kind, patient and protective man who was hard not to like.
I was impressed with the detail in this book since it was such a quick read. I love all the Cascade Creek books and will be reading them again.
I did receive a complementary copy of this book but I am reviewing it on my own as I do with all the books I read.
I loved that the h took control of her life and left a situation that would have been even sadder for her. The story moves quickly, and is wrapped up satisfactory. I would have enjoyed an epilogue though to show what their future held.
We get great character's, some tension which is resolved quickly, mildly descriptive lovemaking, HEA and just a cute quick read.
Others have explained the story line, so I am only explaining what I got out of reading this. (ljb)
I have to say this story was just as great as Loving Lucas & Loving Laliah!!!
Romancing Rosalie is about a woman trying to get over a man who not only ask her to marry her but cheating on her with his mistress ( a lot that happened like that in the pass in historical times) and got his mistress pregnant. She couldn't take it everyone but her knew before she did and even her parents told her to look the other way cause that how it was in this time, just to tell him to not broadcast it so openly next time. She really couldn't believe her ears. She couldn't marry a man that didn't love her or stay faithful to her.
Rosalie fled on a journey to go visit her cousins Audra house. She has a great journey, men try to rob the train she was on and the coach guy and another guy she didn't know at the time came to the trains rescue and sent them off their way.
She gets to her cousins house by the guy who saved the train his name is garret who is actually a marshal. She gets to the cousin Audra's house and meets her pregnant cousin and her husband Lucas. They are surprised and happy to see her.
But don't wanna give away all the story.. It is really a great love story, short but sweet and to the point. I love Rosalie's romance with Garret just as much as Audras romance with Lucas and Laliah's romance with Ash! All 3 books are great!!! A must read.
