Romancing The Smoke: Reflections of a Nicotine Addict (Volume 1) Paperback – July 4, 2012
A most unique and effective remedy for a nasty affliction,
"Romancing The Smoke" utilizes humorous and poignant
anecdotes, music, and art to disempower nicotine's grip
on the addict. Somehow, seemingly without effort,
I found myself motivated to successfully end a 40-year
enslavement. Mr. Aaron is on to something here.
Read the book, you may find it works its magic on you, too."
-Rick Asche, writer
About the Author
John Aaron is a writer, artist, musician and arts organizer with a particularly colorful history and story. He first wrote for Night Moves Magazine in Los Angeles as the Concert Critic, in the mid 90's. He later founded ArfSpeak, the art and politics magazine he published in Washington, DC from 2003-2006. In it, he gave the Administration their due. These journals provided an outlet for his sense of humor and irony. He has always illustrated his stories. As an organizer and director, he founded CHALK4PEACE, the non-profit global chalk art project for peace. He also founded and curated the controversial Museum of Modern ARF in Arlington, VA. With his sculpture and painting, he is a veteran of more than 30 one person exhibitions on two continents. He draws great inspiration from traveling; he writes and paints constantly while on the road. He lives, works and doesn’t smoke in Ojai, California. Romancing The Smoke: Reflections of a Nicotine Addict is John's first book.

Although there is great change, nicotine addiction has remained a somewhat socially acceptable behaviour, being downplayed especially if the user is facing other addictions. Although John is able to quit cold turkey on his own, this is not the case for most hardcore nicotine addicts. Many people are now accepting that nicotine addiction qualifies for drug rehab. All serious and quality drug rehabs today address nicotine as a lethal substance to be dealt with on the same page as all other addictive substances and behaviors. Nicotine Anonymous works for many where nothing else has.
John has provided a very valuable addition to first person nicotine addiction literature. By John sharing his experience, strength and hope with others, he will hopefully continue to keep himself an un-smoker. Thank you Mr Aaron, for your contribution to facing nicotine addiction head on. An honest, gritty and painful piece that is entertaining and informative. One day at a time, congratulations.
The next time you have a cigarette break, read a couple chapters of this book and in a couple of weeks you'll have quite smoking;-)
Well, maybe not that fast, but you'll still love this book and you'll be heading down the right path to kicking a disgusting, self destructive habit.
