The Romanov Conspiracy is the first novel by Glenn Meade I have had the pleasure of reading. The Romanov Conspiracy is a fiction story with many historically accurate facts. Dr. Laura Pavlov finds perfectly preserved remains in Ekaterinburg in Russia where the Romanov Family was executed. Dr Pavlov finds herself in Ireland to find out who this woman was, why she was buried there, and how this man in Ireland knows all these facts. He takes Dr Pavlov back to 1918 with his story of how a group of people executed a plan to save the Romanov Family.

The Romanov Conspiracy is a fast paced thriller that takes you back to 1918 Ekaterinburg during the war and the overthrow of the Romanovs. It is apparent that Glenn Meade has extensive knowledge of The Romanov family, the world at that time; especially Russia, archaeology, and the history behind this whole time period in our history. The characters in this story are fascinating in their convictions, their way of life, and the different political alliances that bring them all together. Glenn Meade's writing makes you feel like you are right there watching it all unfold. The Romanov Conspiracy is very well written and Glenn Meade grabs readers from the start and keeps you guessing until the very end. I personally learned a lot of history of The Romanov's that I didn't know, but never felt bogged down by historical facts. This story is a wonderful balance of fiction and fact. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Historical Thrillers. You won't be disappointed. I look forward to reading more from Glenn Meade.

My Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Disclaimers: I received an arc of this book from the publisher, Howard Books (a division of Simon and Schuster) in exchange for my honest opinion.

My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: Wow! Just wow! That's all I really need to say about this book. I adored everything about this book. It is easily one of my favorites of the year.

I feel like the synopsis accurately describes maybe 18% of the novel if not less. In the first thirty pages, Dr. Pavlov does discover two bodies perfectly preserved in permafrost that leads to her discovery of the Romanov conspiracy; however, most of the novel is told as if the characters from 1918 were telling the story themselves.

The first thirty pages were great, but not spectacular. The rest of the novel was mind-blowing.

I absolutely adored the story that Meade created because it was gripping, compelling, and addicting. I didn't just devour this book, the novel consumed me. I couldn't think of anything else. I read for hours and then realized I hadn't eaten all day. However, I couldn't stop reading.

I loved all of the characters in this novel. I won't take the time to list them. But they all seemed so realistic. They didn't all get the happy ending I wanted them to have either, which made Meade's novel more realistic and also more heart-breaking.

I could gush about this book for hours. But I'm just going to say I adored this book. Don't just read this one, buy this one. You will absolutely adore it. I love mystery, thriller, action books and this book ranks among the best I've ever read.

In Summary: I can't find the words to adequately express how truly incredible this book is. This book consumed me. I couldn't think of anything else.

Loved the intricate plot. Beguiled by the dynamic characters. And oh so thankful that I was not born into Russia, 1918. In the same way that Charles Dickens brought alive the misery of London in his day, Glenn Meade has used plot and characters to make real the utter desperation of living under the depraved oppression of Lenin and Trotsky. For me, that is the subject of this book, while the fate of the Romanov family is the exclamation point.

The gist of the story line was very interesting but there were many times in the book where the author used what I would term, page filling trivia in an attempt to lengthen the book! I also felt that some of the action items in the book were not even close to what could ever happen in the real life which is not like Glenn in his other stories! Reaching would be my best guess!

I've been a fan of Glenn Meade since reading Snow Wolf (a favorite I've read twice and kept in my personal library). The Romanov Conspiracy is no less a classic of how Meade transfers words to paper.

The Romanov Conspiracy takes the reader to a time in Russia when the people suffered through a terrible time----The Russian Revolution. Lenin has captured Moscow, and his Red soldiers kill indiscriminately counter-revolutionaries and people who fail to fulfill their part in the revolution against the Romanov aristocracy.

Tsar Nicolai Romanov and his family are held captive by the Reds in the town of Ekaterinburg in a home called the Ipatiev House. They are guarded by ruthless Red Army thugs, who are there to serve one purpose.... To execute the former Tsar and his entire family. Tsar Nicolas, a man who once commanded one-sixth of the land on the entire planet with an iron fist, is helpless to protect his family.

The Americans, British, and Russian White Army sympathizers have formulated a plan to rescue the Tsar and his family. Three agents must infiltrate Russia and rescue the Romanovs right under the Reds' noses. But this is no easy plan. Ruthless Red Army guards are trailing after the agents, and never too far away to leave the reader wondering if they will succeed.

Filled with romance, suspense, adventure, mystery, and tragedy, the Romanov Conspiracy will leave the reader wondering if any of the Romanovs actually did escape with their lives. Meade has researched this period well. It is a time during the Zhivago era that we came to love so much from the movie Doctor Zhivago. I highly recommend this book! You will not be able to put it down.
