About the Author
Ben Chenoweth lived in St. Petersburg, Russia with his wife and two children for almost ten years. He currently lives in Melbourne, Australia where he works at the Melbourne School of Theology as their eLearning Coordinator. He enjoys reading, writing, music and playing computer games in equal measures. He has a particular interest in the intersection between theology and the arts.
His first novel, Meeting of Minds, dealt with exploring the galaxy through virtual reality. Later, he wrote a play based on the life of Saul entitled Saul, First King of Israel. The first volume in his Exegetical Histories series, The Ephesus Scroll, looks at the book of Revelation, attempting to explore what the book meant within its original first-century context as well as dealing with what the book means for us today in the 21st century. The second volume in the series, The Corinth Letters, examines the context that gave rise to the books of 1 and 2 Corinthians, while also adding in romance, document forgery, archaeology, and descriptions of delicious Greek cuisine. The third volume in the Exegetical Histories series, The Rome Gospel, covers the writing of the gospel of Mark against the background of persecution in the wake of the great fire of Rome. It also traces Mark’s own personal history as it weaves in and out of the narrative of Acts, as he comes in contact with important Christian leaders like Peter, Paul, his uncle Barnabas, Timothy, and an apostle who just happens to be a woman. He also wrote a musical based on the Biblical book of Esther (a free download of the 1998 performance at Lilydale Baptist Church is available on NoiseTrade).

He deftly captures the feel and flavor of first century Rome and Jerusalem. It feels like you are actually there. The story centers around John Mark as he takes down notes from a church elder to write the Gospel according to Mark, all the while been pursued by vigilantes trying to turn him over to the Romans to be crucified.
Chenoweth is a theologian as well as a gifted story-teller, and weaves in the latest and best evangelical theology of early gospel oral traditions, and how these may have formed the basis of the three synoptic gospels - Matthew, Mark and Luke, which share a lot of material.
This book will bring the gospel alive to you and both increase your knowledge and deepen your faith.
