The big daddy of Pie Irons, this fun and versatile cooking device makes two tasty sandwiches or pie at a time. Also great for pastys, calzone and empanadas...the options are endless. The cooking surface is 8.5" x 4.25" and made from heavy duty cast iron with chrome plated rods and handles. Recipes Included. Made by Rome Industries - a family camping specialty company that has been making the Original Pie Iron sandwich cooker since 1964.

Definitely recommend seasoning them before you use them. Instructions say to season them for 15 minutes and you are ready to go. We seasoned our using vegetable oil and put them on the grill in our bbq at 350-400 degrees for 15 minutes wiped them clean then repeated process just to make sure they were good to go.
Couple recipe ideas:
Monkey Bread (kids love it). Take can of biscuits, 1/4 biscuits. Get some brown sugar, regular sugar, and cinnamon. mix in Ziploc bag. Put dough in Ziploc bag and shake the bag. Cook until golden brown and dough is done.
Pizza Calzones: Take Totino Pizza and fold in half. Cook until golden brown and cheese is melted.
Ribeye Steak: Takes about 2-3 minutes a side depending on how you like your steak.
Tip: When cooking with pie irons, wipe down and clean between uses. Makes it easier to clean later, specially when using sugar like when making monkey bread. Learned the hard way that when we cooked back to back batches and the caramelized sugar was a pain to clean.
Update: 12/1/17 over a year later we are still using the pie iron and they still work great.
The only thing I would like this iron to have is a handle that is just a little bit longer, as we use this over campfire coals that get quite hot. We use a good oven mitt to solve that problem.
Overall, 4.5 stars for design, 5 for how the product functions.
Makes one awesome Reuben sandwich.
Turnover kits from pillsbury
Street taco shells with turkey/cheese inside
Little can biscuits cooked as is.
All of them were delicious. The biscuits cooked perfect for camping gravy and biscuits and the sandwiches were great for a lunch. The only problem with the turnovers is we couldn't make them fast enough haha. Too many campers. We will consider taking a second set of irons next time.
