Thie book provides a great synopsis of Reagan administration's stance on education and the surprising policies adopted under a president that vowed to disassembled the Department of Education. Another great Kosar title.

This is a nice short history of Reagan's education policies. Reagan started (or tried to start) incresing state control of education. After reading Kosar's history, it is interesting to speculate about what Reagan would think about No Child Left Behind and how it has changed eduction policy.
