If you live in the city or the suburbs, this book probably has a ton of great suggestions for you. However, if you live in the middle of nowhere and don't have access to malls or shops or anything besides a McDonald's, this book is not for you. I have to drive 30 miles to civilization, so I could use very few of the examples. That certainly doesn't make it badly written or lacking in good ideas, but it does have a more limited audience than I expected.

I was excited by the positive reviews of this book but must say that it was a bit of a disappointment to me. I had hoped to read about some novel suggestions for how to get out of the house with my infant (and maintain my sanity), but some of the ideas involved things like taking a bath, crocheting a hat, holding my partner's hand while on a walk, or having your groceries delivered to me. Sorry, but I didn't find those things terribly helpful in my quest to figure out things to do with my little that will keep us both entertained (which is what I thought the book would do primarily - maybe my mistake). Not a complete waste but just not as idea-rich as I had hoped.

Bought this book after my daughter was born, some fun ideas but a little heavy on the artsy, craftsy stuff. Most of the moms I know didn't even do a baby book, so I think a lot of these ideas will be ignored, but it is cute nevertheless.

I can't believe that this book has such good reviews, it's nothing more than a tiny book of goofy activities like "Pretend You're in Paris". I got the wrong impression of it when I read the pages available on Amazon - I thought it was going to be bits of information for new mothers and ways to cope with all the unfamiliar stuff and activities to enjoy with your baby or something. There are actually things listed in here like "Bake Cookies One at a Time" and an activity that honestly tells you to take pictures of your stroller in front of a strip club or liquor store.

I LOVE this book, I wish I had it when my first child was born. It is filled with creative and humorous ideas for enjoying the precious time you have with your baby, including tips on how to include your partner and other moms. It gave me inspiration and motivation to get out of the house and take my little ones with me! It does seem to be geared for stay-at-home moms, however, as a mom who works outside of the home, the activities can also be done in the evenings or on weekends.

I originally received this book as a gift a few days after the birth of my first child. I was suffering from a bad case of the baby blues and felt completely lost as a mother. I felt confined to my house, that no one understood me, and I struggled to figure out how to be both "me" and "mommy". Within just a few pages of reading this book, I was in tears, so thankful to learn that I was not alone. The author was funny, quirky, and completely spot on. I felt like she was talking directly to me. Simply knowing that there were other new moms out there going through the same thing that I was going through helped to lift me out of my funk.

So, when one of my best friends emailed me to talk about her baby blues and cabin fever, I immediately went online and ordered this book for her.

"And without" from the title is the focus of this book and not at all what I was expecting. I was looking for suggestions on little activities and games I might be able to do w my baby. This is mainly a bunch of suggestions for things that don't involve your baby at all. I also think the suggestions for the first couple of months are asking a lot of new moms and if anyone took this book seriously they might feel disappointed in themselves for not being able to follow thru. Examples are: get out of the house every single day, that's #1 for month 1, go bowling and go on a date on month 2. There are also a lot of variations on the activity of photo taking. Finally a lot the suggestions seems to assume we all have an endless budget (order delivery groceries, hire a houskeeper) which is funny to me because for a lot of people a baby can stress a budget esp if the family has gone down to one income to be stay at home. If they wanted to give moms somethings to do w out the baby perhaps tips on how to maximize, structure and focus your time while baby is sleeping or doesn't need you would have been more helpful. Overall this book isn't worth it...and how do you have an ugly baby clothes party w out insulting the person who gave you said ugly outfit?

I bought this after another website told me it was a must-read for new moms. I was disappointed at how ridiculous it was. Most of the stuff in there was obvious and advice you can get anywhere. BUT... on the positive side, it was entertaining enough to read and browse through. Get this more as a cute coffee table book but don't plan to read it all.
