But my daughter loved building/playing with these easy to connect pieces - playground & house stuff. I was able to hook up a small ride with motor of our own design and it worked good. If you are having trouble with the spin motor, we found it needs to be balanced and doing a test spin to make sure connectors weren't too tight on the motor helped.
Recommendations: I bought multiple kits so there were enough pieces; I showed them the roominatetoy.com website; the How To section has videos & The Roominate Library (also under this heading) gives pictures of ideas; also the Young Inventors section is all photos that have been sent in of kids' creations; You Tube also has great videos that walk you through how to make things. I also provided them with felt (for rugs), fleece material (blankets, table cloths, to sew pillows, etc), additional scrapbooking paper, pipe cleaners, etc to give them some ideas for extras. The first time when I introduced Roominate to the girls, I hung out & made myself available to help connect things, or sew pillows, or cut rugs, etc.so there wouldn't be any frustration.
I would highly recommend the Village; it has, by far, the most pieces (including 2 light sets & 4 motors). I also purchased the Amusement Park, Townhouse, & Chateau. The Amusement Park had very low ratings but the 2nd most amount of pieces so I was just going to add the pieces in with the Village. Just out of curiosity I decided to build the large ferris wheel; wasn't very difficult; I changed the bottom of the 2 towers slightly because it was too narrow at the base; worked great; I included pictures; (Sorry, they are all upside down for some reason.) The Townhouse had some different pieces than the Village but a lot less pieces, no lights & 1 motor (which I knew when I ordered it; just trying to give pros & cons of each); I would buy the Amusement Park & possibly the Townhouse again if the price was right. The Chateau came with the EXACT same pieces as the VIllage, only a lot less; even the doll & pet were the same; I would not buy this again; I would much rather have several Villages for the amount of pieces. I hope this helps! I had lots of girls with different interests & a variety of ages so I think this is a good representation; they ALL loved it! We spent the ENTIRE day building; it definitely held their interest! ...Several weeks later, the girls are still enjoying them & the boys are even trying to take them over!
