Kindle Bestseller
"4 Stars--San Diego author Dee DeTarsio's Ros is a charming, action-filled suspense novel...With the clock ticking, Ros is a delightful journey of two characters who each yearn to be better." -Examiner.com

"You'll laugh a lot when you read this book, but under the humor you'll detect a deftly written story of the redemptive power of love and friendship." --Carol K. Carr, author of India Black

I was expecting a cross between Starman and E.T. and yes, DeTarsio incorporates a touch of both stories in Ros. But mostly it's a buddy book. DeTarsio has a breezy style and command of language that's tight and rarely falters. Her ear for dialogue laced with razor sharp humor had me rolling.
--Kathleen Bolton, co-founder of Writer Unboxed

"Ms. DeTarsio is a natural storyteller. It was very easy to get wrapped up this adventure. I read Ros on Kindle and there were times I was so engrossed I would forget it was an eBook." - Girls Just Reading

"Call it action-adventure, sci-fi, a girl-buddy tale, I call it all three! But DeTarsio also enriches the story with meditations on friendship, love, loss and betrayal. And the redemptive power of simply BELIEVING in magic, and the finer aspects of our human nature." - Kiana Davenport, author of OPIUM DREAMS

The 2 and 3-star reviews preceding mine nailed my thoughts exactly.

While the author certainly demonstrates a love of wordplay and wisecracking humor, it got extremely tiresome about half-way through the book and felt like she was simply trying too hard to inject a laugh into almost every conversation or internal monologue.

Initially I thought the storyline was novel and somewhat cute; as the book went on (and on) it verged on silly--- kind of a combination of old sci-fi movies, fortune cookie philosophizing and a sitcom laugh-track.

In fairness to Ms. DeTarsio, she gave the reader a very human portrait of the main character Micki. However, the incessant focus on Micki's failings in love and personal life presented with a self-deprecating humor were a definite turn-off. Sometimes her actions were too frustratingly idiotic for words.

Ros' story was more engaging but never sufficiently developed. I did love the denouement.

In contrast to another reviewer, I couldn't stand the (ex) mother-in-law Rhoda and found that her constant carping/sniping set my nerves on edge---I felt like "whapping her up-side the head" as we used to say in high school.

I vacillated between a 2 and 3 star rating. Most of the first half of the text was relatively typo free and then I encountered "breaks" for "brakes," "in plain site" and "gripping her tiny waste" (which was unintentionally funny given Ros' excretory function.) There were a couple of grammatical errors such as "over who's desires" or the occasional missing word, but generally Ms. DeTarsio's use of English was refreshingly accurate, thus earning the third star.

Ros is a delightful, fun and witty read. Ms. DeTarsio skillfully creates a tale with appealing main characters, Micki and Ros, who form a remarkable relationship. Ms. DeTarsio again drew me in with heroines with whom I would want to be friends. The story unfolds at a quick pace and left me fully satisfied with a story well told. While reading this story and even after completing it, I'm musing about Micki and Ros and how I would act in a similar situation.
Can't wait for the next work by Ms. deTarsio

Awesome story - my favorite so far - loved it! We all need our "peeps" - even if they are from another planet... Not to mention romance and the fact that women are capable of much more than they tend to give themselves credit for. Of course, being a single mom I can certainly relate! Loved the humor - very entertaining!

I'm still trying to figure out why this book has so many 5 star reviews. It was a decent story, with an interesting plot-line and that's the only reason why it gets 2 stars from me. I really felt like the author was trying way to hard to make the main character funny....and failed most of the time. The only character I remotely liked was the mother-in-law. As for character development, I think the author did an ok job on everyone...except the character I wanted most to know better...Ros. Ros seemed to be tossed into the background by the Micki's inane worrying about her appearance and love life.

The story line was a bust for me. All that running around? I felt the same way I did when I read the last Harry Potter book....that the author didn't know where the story was going so she just had them wandering all over the place. I would have liked more background story, more about Ros and a lot less about Micki's problems. The last scene, at cirque du soleil, I felt was just another failed attempt by the author to be funny. It was like the author was trying to work a little Lucy and Ethel or Laverne and Shirley into the story and it fell flat, like most of the book.

All in all the book had promise, but it was a promise that wasn't fully realized. I'm still wondering why I kept thinking it would get better.

Dee - you did it again!

"ROS" is a wonderful, witty, charming, "wise in the ways of this Universe" adventure story for anyone who loves the magic and opportunities so abundant in our World(s). "ROS" is original, uplifting, imaginative, VERY FUNNY and not your run of the mill "predictable" adventure.

"ROS" is so filled with wit and humor and wisdom.......I did not want to miss anything, I reread much of it, extracting as much flavor as I could hold ----- savoring every morsel, every laugh again and again!

I loved the story itself, about a lovable female (from our cosmos) who brings home the Universal call for love. It is utterly refreshing to read a book like ROS that is actually uplifting, humorous and full of Universal Truths.

Thank you Dee Detarsio!

Such a fun read! I loved this twist on the usual alien-come-to-earth story. The alien is a female. She is discovered - and later befriended and helped - by a human female. Their buddy-girl story is funny, sweet, and touching. The friends discover that, sure, Ros's society may be far more advanced than ours, but we're really not so different after all.

Author DeTarsio's writing style is a delight as well. Take, for example, this passage where Ros tells her new human friend about falling in love: "My higher reasoning center has been unable to rejuvenate. I cannot take nourishment." Isn't that a delightful twist on the ol' "I can't sleep! I can't eat!" cry of the lovelorn?!

I don't LOL very often at books, but this book had me chuckling all the way through. Also loved the very creative and funny ending. And, as an added bonus, the book contains the best use of Journey lyrics ever.
