Editorial Reviews

Tsukune’s terrible grades stick him in the only school that will take him. To his mortification, all his classmates are monsters and if they figure out his human status, he’s fresh meat! But when his scent attracts the hungry lips of a gorgeous vampire named Moka, it turns out he’s a sucker for supernatural chicks. Before long, Tsukune is being seduced by a bouncy succubus, tormented by a witch who swings both ways and felt-up by a stalker snow fairy. Moka doesn’t mind sharing with her new friends, but her panties get in a twist when real danger threatens her boy-toy. Beastly bullies beware, because when Tsukune unlocks Moka’s supermonster seal, a ravaging beauty with a dropkick from hell is revealed!

The Limited Edition sku contains an art booklet with centerfold and a collectible art box.

When a friend of mine let me read through her manga set of this years back I was skeptical of it. I loathe harem series, generally. I have an intense dislike for female characters depicted as weak when in the presence of the male lead. I don't mind empty headed female characters but hate when a strong female lead is established only to become an object for the male lead to fight for or fawn over later. The Rosario Vampire manga presented me with a genuinely interesting prospect; a main human male character goes to a school for monsters learning to blend into the human world and it becomes clear he will die if the truth of his situation is released. The female leads are first drawn to him because he is their species' natural source of food with the exception of the witch. As such his life depends on being protected by his harem in the odd twist of fate and they grow to like him because he shows he is willing to sacrifice himself to protect them when the chips are down.

The anime cut away a lot of the darker and gritty elements from the manga to make it more palatable as a harem anime. I consider many of these cute to be weaknesses in the transition to animation and not a bonus, unfortunately. The manga had a subplot where the male lead was becoming a ghoul due to having to constantly be resurrected so much by the female lead via her vampire blood. The visceral and sometimes gruesome lengths he would go through to try and protect the female protagonists was often bloody and quite graphic, driving home that his situation was anything but fun.

The benefits of the anime was the humor. I will give it that. There are some laugh out loud bits in the first and second box set that make this series a great deal of fun if you are looking to shut your brain off and just relax.

A high school student's parents find a way for him to immediately start high school even though he'd failed his entry exam, but there is one problem... the private school they'd found an acceptance form for is only for monsters. In no time he has befriended a group of girls the only problem is each of them intends on becoming his girlfriend.

Season one... focuses on Tsukune and the girl's lives at Yokai academy and feels like a slice of life anime due to the season lacking an overarching narrative, but the season concludes with a great three part finale!

Season two... Tsukune and the girls are back at Yokai academy and a new student has a grudge against them. This season has an overarching narrative and concludes with another great three part finale!

The animation, characters, finales and English dub are amazing which is why this is one of my favorite animes!

Be warned that the series is not suitable for children due to all the fan service and if you're unfamiliar with the term then let me explain. Fan service means there are a lot of large jiggling breasts, revealing clothing, panty exposing character animations, poses and camera angles as well as brief nudity and strongly suggestive themes.

If you've seen the series online or checked the manga out then the series story and what it has shouldn't be that much of a shocker, the main characters are entertaining enough though I kind of wish that Tsukune was a little less wimpy then he was on the anime series. The series does give us the standard harem genre with about five girls all who throughout the first season are introduced to us and later grow feelings for young Tsukune. The story of the series itself is basically you have a young highschool boy Tsukune Aono who after failing the entrance exam to a couple of highschools is invited to go to Yokai academy, which Tsukune is first ecstatic about until he realizes that the academy is actually a school for yokai or demons and monsters and starts to reevaluate his choice on staying at the school. The one plus for him is a young attractive girl named Moka Akashiya who he's attracted to but is also a powerful S Class vampire but due to a rosary seal placed on her Moka's power is reduced and her true personality is sealed inside the rosary while a more perky and friendly Moka personality retains control of the body. The rosary can come off which Tsukune does during a monster fight and as long as the rosary is off the real Moka's personality is released and regains control of her body. Of course we can't have this kind of series without the gaggle of a few other demonic attractive girls all vying for Tsukune's attention and affection each hoping to win over Tsukune's love at the end. The animation and soundtrack are very well done and the voice cast for both the dubbed and subbed were great in their character roles.Read more ›

first of all i watched the whole show online & i loved it so much so i got the DVD

overall its a harem \ ecchi with a school setting but with a bit of a Gothic touch with paranormal monsters & such

the cast is quite colorful , the main guy is tsukune a kid who got drafted to the monsters academy by mistake - the lovely moka who is the main love interest to tsukune & is a speacial kind of vampire that has 2 personalty which i find alter strong moka sexy - kuromu the ever so seductive succubus with a cheerful personalty - yukari the adorable smart little witch - mizore the cool , calm , innocent stalker which i find her cute .

as of this season i find it more serious and has a plot more than the 2nd season ( which im now watching ) and each episodes involves tsukune getting to know more about the school and meeting new persons err .... monsters , lets not forget the FAN SERVICE that the show will provide to its viewer .

i loved the show and its cast , tho i never got into the MANGA yet people say its way!!!!! better so i will look for it in the future

this not a kids show but for an OTAKU its more suitable

give it a try it has its funny moments
