RoscoSun 85 is an amber filter that lowers the color temperature of daylight to balance with 3200°K sources. Rosco Neutral Density Filters reduce the level of exterior light and bring it within the exposure range of interior light levels. Two additional RoscoSun materials combine Sun 85 conversion with Neutral Density reduction. All materials are deep-dyed for optical clarity. I have some quartz lights installed already and I had to match the light color. This worked perfectly. The LED do not get hot but time will tell how long this film will last. The LED floods are styled after the quartz lights with large clear glass lens. I just cut a sheet the same size as the glass and installed it inside. I have extra so I will be able to replace when/if needed.
I also do some photography, so I will play with it on flash/umbrellas too - just haven't done that yet.
The quality of this gel sheet feels pretty good to the touch. I'm no expert on gel film but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express before.
The CTO color balance is designed to roughly shift a daylight balanced light source or strobe to put out a near-tungsten illumination. For instance, I was shooting stills in a television studio but needed to use fill flash after the show. Placing a piece of the Rosco Cinegel CTO on my strobe allowed me to set my camera to tungsten and shoot clean results everywhere. You take a similar approach when shooting inside a house or other venue illuminated with traditional tungsten/quartz lighting.
Anyway, the Rosco Cinegel CTO is good, tough stuff. Put the excess in a drawer for when your present filter material starts getting chewed up and you are set for life.
They are very clear but will dim your light/flash a bit.
Shipping is great! Comes in a cardboard tube, and cover with protective paper so when you get it will not have any scratches on it. That way you can scratch it up yourself, I know I did.
The neat thing is they are so large you can use one to drape over a barn door light or cut it up into smaller squares to cover flash heads.
Buy these if you need gels!
If you can't tell, I totally approve gelling a flash with this product.
