Technical Details

Product Description

Comes with 30 seeds. Geraniums are relatively easy to grow from seeds. However, geranium seedlings are slow growing. Geranium seeds should be sown in early to mid-February to produce flowering plants for spring. Flowering occurs approximately 13 to 15 weeks after sowing. Soilless mixes, such as Jiffy Mix and Redi-earth, are excellent germination media. During germination, damping-off of geranium seedlings can be a serious problem. Damping-off is caused by various types of fungi that attack the seedlings and destroy them. To discourage this, containers used for starting seeds should be clean and have adequate drainage. Previously used containers should be washed in soapy water, then disinfected by dipping in a solution containing one part chlorine bleach and nine parts water. Fill the container with the germination medium to within 1/2 to 1 inch of the top. Firm the medium lightly, water thoroughly and allow it to drain for a few minutes. Sow the seeds in rows 2 to 3 inches apart and cover with about 1/8 inch of medium. After sowing, thoroughly water the medium by partially submersing the container in water. When the surface becomes wet, remove the container from the water and allow it to drain. The medium also can be moistened with a soft spray of water from a rubber bulb sprinkler or similar device. To ensure a uniform moisture level during the germination period, cover the container with clear plastic food wrap or a clear plastic dome. Set the container in bright light, but out of direct sunlight. Excessive heat buildup may occur if the covered container is set in direct sunlight. The seeds should begin to germinate in seven to ten days. Remove the plastic covering as soon as germination occurs. Place the seedlings in a sunny window or under fluorescent lights. Fluorescent lights should be no more than 4 to 6 inches above the seedlings and left on for 12 to 16 hours per day.

I bought this geranium seeds because picture is beautiful. I love geraniums and grow them from the seeds more than 10 years for my garden and for presents to my friends. This seller provide the awful service. Their seeds complitely not growing (when you asked for refined they send to you another seeds from your additional charge and when you start to grow them they are everything like a dill and dandelion , but defenetly not the geranium). Think before you start to buy from them. Thank you

I am still waiting for them to grow. They germinated, but they are very tiny. The don't look like geranium plants at all. I am still waiting for them to get their first true leaves so that I can transplant them. I don't think I would buy them again.

I purchased four different kinds if geraniums. I started these indoors in March and they transplanted beautifully outside in MN. However, while it does look like they will actually bloom by the end if July, they definitely are NOT geraniums! The leaves look like a tobacco plant and they are each a really tall stock (like 2.5 feet!). I hope they are pretty when they bloom but they are not even close to resembling a geranium or the picture that enticed me to purchase the seeds to begin with!

The seeds have germinated as did the other colors however, none of them look like geraniums. They have long lanky leaves. I will post back when and if they become a blooming plant. I hope to be pleasantly surprised but so far it is not looking to good.

I have been in the greenhouse business all my life (57 years). These are weed seeds. They are NOT flower seeds. I also ordered
ivy leaf "geranium" seeds fulfilled by this same seller. They are the same weeds. I know geraniums and these are NOT geraniums--NOT EVEN FLOWERS. Amazon should NOT partner with this firm. You buy the seeds, they germinate, they grow. By the time you discover they are some very tall weeds--there is nothing you can do about it--too much time has passed. This is definitely an unethical business practice.

Below is the first review I left, here is and update. These are not begonia seeds. Please do not buy. I contacted seller and they were very nice, but I see that they are still selling these as begonias. This listing should be REMOVED.

Previous review.
These have had an excellent germination rate and seem to be really good fresh seeds. Plants are doing good and I can't wait to see how the flowers look.

I planted 100 Rose Blue Geranium seeds and 100 Orange Geranium seeds from the same vendor. They were planted in controlled conditions in a basement growing stand with 40W Agro blubs getting ~14 hours of light and 10 hours of dark. They were planted in Park Seed Bio Domes with the 60 cells flats and fed the 1/4 teaspoon per gallon nutrient mix.

Results: The Orange seeds had 100% germination and have very healthy roots and leaves. The Blues only 21% germination from the same vendor.

In looking at the leaves of the rose blue, they look nothing like the Orange ones. The orange geraniums fully germinated in under 4 days and after 3 weeks are about to be moved to 4" cells as they have filled the bio dome. On the other hand, the blue geraniums are not looking very happy - there are 21 of them in any state from just emerging to ~2" tall and looking confused. I did just order another 2 packets of the Rose Blue to try to get 10-20 more plants to fill out the blue color that was desired.

The seeds were inexpensive and I did not complain to the vendor. I was not expecting much out of the blues as that is a hard variety.

I will post the outcome of the first set and then the second set once they go outdoors.

I ordered this geranium, 5 different colors, I finally got them to grow this year and what grew was not what I paid for, they were some funny looking what looked like very miniature sunflowers almost like desert plants. You will not get what you paid for, do not order from treasures by lee............
