"During my 20 years in pastoral ministry, I was constantly on the lookout for resources for new believers and those growing in the faith. Rose Publishing has produced exactly that tool. This easy-to-use guide is accessible, comprehensive, and customizable for use in one-to-one or small group settings. The selection of topics is perfect for a new believers course. If your church needs an all-in-one discipleship resource, this is it." --Lawrence W. Wilson, Author of The Long Road Home: How God Forms Our Prodigal Souls and blogger
I have discipled new Christians numerous times over the past three decades, taught a discipleship class at Biola University and at an evangelical missionary school in Barcelona, Spain. I have read and surveyed nearly all of the discipleship books that are available. With all of this background knowledge, I heartily endorse the Rose Guide to Discipleship. This guide has all the elements that one needs to help a new believer in the church: what it means to believe and become a disciple, the basics of theology and the fruit of the Spirit, along with ten characteristics that every disciple should exhibit. My main concern as I recommend this book is that our churches actually use it to disciple new believers. In my years of serving in various churches, I have seen a consistent ignorance of what to do with new Christians. How do we begin to teach them what it really means to be a follower of Jesus? As a result of our not knowing what to do, new believers are often left to figure it out for themselves, with disastrous results. We often end up with immature Christians who do not fully understand who they truly are. If each new believer was personally discipled through this Rose Guide to Discipleship by a seasoned Jesus follower, our churches would be stronger and healthier today. May it be so! --Matthew C. Williams, Ph.D., Talbot School of Theology

I found the approach used by the publishers to be refreshing and new. I have read many books about discipleship but this one laid the information out in an easy to understand format and was a pleasure to read. Any serious seeker would find each of the above topics described in incredible detail. I also found this work very informative and helpful. It is well-planned and supplemented with scriptures to back up its claims. The visual helps were colorful and spectacular helping to understand the meaning behind what is being presented. There are study guides throughout to help one to memorize the information. I would most certainly encourage anyone who is thinking of becoming a Disciple of Christ to obtain a copy.
I was provided with an advanced reader copy by the publisher to give an honest and unbiased review. I am disclosing this in accordance with Federal Trade Commission 16 CPR Part 255.
Now here is a book every pastor and Christian educator will appreciate. The Discipleship guide is designed in an orderly way to take a new born disciple from beginning to end through a very exciting journey in Christianity. As a nice feature I enjoy and any Christian will cherish, the guide is divided into simple topics which include:
a.Believing in God: a fundamental understanding on what it means to become a Christian.
b.Becoming a Disciple: learning, growing and serving as the principle goals of Christian living
c.Basics that guide a Disciple: the Bible, the Father, Jesus, the Holy Spirit and the Church as the cornerstones of our living
d.12 things that mark a Disciple: our testimony to the world through the Fruit of the Spirit
e.10 spiritual disciplines that shape a Disciple: our continuous growth and maturity by committing to spiritual disciplines
If not enough, the guide includes worksheet questions in addition to the bible study and life application by theme to review progress throughout discipleship. Beautiful illustration, charts and guidelines make this a great teaching resource for all new comers to the Gospel.
As a pastor, I will certainly benefit from this for years to come.
