I couldn't wait to run home and start writing. The story poured out of me. It only took a couple of weeks to write the entire book and then a few more to polish it. My wife recorded the audio book and we released it in that format.
I can say that of all the stories I've written, this one is the most powerful emotionally. I'm almost embarrassed to say that I cried when writing several parts of it. Then I cried again when Sherri recorded it and I still sometimes tear up when I listen to it. But I'm not the only one that it affects that way. Several people have told me that they also cried when listening to it. One person said they had to pull their car over because they were listening to it while driving.
Many people that know me have asked if this story is something that happened in my own life. It is not. It is fictional. But you will find yourself wondering if it is just a story. You'll wonder if you know any of the people involved. Why? Because what happens to Rosie and her family in this story is very real in many people's lives.
I still have the original stone I found on the beach, September 13, 2015. I wholeheartedly believe that this story was given directly to me by God. I have no other way to explain it. I think I was given it to show that we all have our struggles in life. But I've found that through it all, that there is hope; hope for each of us in our darkest hours. We may find hope in the form of a friend, a brother or a sister or just perhaps, in our quieter moments, we may find that hope comes in the form of a small stone; The Rose Stone.
