Roses in Ecuador
Top Customer Reviews
This book was different. I just finished it and I was thoroughly impressed. It wasn't just the plot - which was outstanding, by the way - it was the character development. By the end of the book, I felt as though I knew the main characters intimately and that is what makes the book such a great read. You don't want the book to end and when it does, it's a letdown.
If you're looking for a book to occupy a few hours of your time and one that will stay with you after you close it, then Roses in Ecuador is for you.
My favorite scene is in the first few pages when Devon meets Jane in the bar. This is a scene that I can relate in my own personal life, as it's rather the way I met my own husband.
One of the reasons I chose this book was because I read a story about the author's dedication to promoting awareness about human trafficking. It is such a noble cause and one that doesn't pertain to any one region of the world. Since I read Roses in Ecuador, I did a little reading on human trafficking, as well, and I have to say that if she wanted to open people's eyes to the problem, she accomplished that on my end.
That's about all I have to say about Roses in Ecuador. I'm off to read more of Heather's books. Grab one while you can. If this one was this good, I know the others will be, too. What fun!
Heather introduces us to Jane Russell, who is working and living on a jaguar preserve. She is brought together with Devon McAllister through a twist of events. There's conflict, there's humor and like the rest of her books, you find a deeper message that ties into the human trafficking awareness the author has focused on.
Like her other books, Roses in Ecuador is reads easily. The story flows well, the dialogue doesn't lag and there's no shortage of suspense, comedy or romance. They are fresh and filled with experience that brings an enriching depth to the story. Even on my second read through of the book I didn't want to put it down until I read the very last page.
Start with this book, or go back and grab them all. While they are not a series ,there is carryover of characters which will endear them to you, and leave you eager to get glimpses of them in the other books.
My favourite thing of all Heather's work is that she doesn't feel the need to stoop to low levels and use foul and crude language, explicit sex scenes or blasphemy to get her story told or sell her books. As long as she writes, I'll buy.
Heather's work once again is a well researched novel that reads easily, but doesn't disappear from your thoughts once you've finished reading. Her goal of spreading the word regarding human trafficking echoes through all her works and I am sure that if her message saves just one person, she will be blessed.
Looking forward to the next one.
Jane was pretty dedicated to the jaguar preserve, but I liked how her friends tried to get her to have a bit more of a social life. Enter Devon! Devon was a pretty awesome guy, and I think Jane gave him too hard of a time about being a "player". He didn't really come across that way at all.
This was pretty matched on romance and suspense, I'd say 60/40. I look forward to whatever Ms. Huffman writes next.
