The dialogue is very teen-esque. The writing is decent, totally readable and enjoyable, but there were points where I did think there was a lot of "trying too hard to write like a teenager". They were only few, but they were there. Again, this isn't a bad thing for the audience it's for, so perhaps that's just me as a 33 year old reading it.
It did take me a few chapters to get into it, and the ending is predictable, though you do question who the killer is for a hot minute or two, but again - teen book. It should be predictable for me as I'm 33 and read a crap-ton.
My honest review is that this is an enjoyable book. It's a quick read, something you can read while waiting for the doctor or reading before bed. I liked it. I would read more from the author and I really like the character Violet. She's a bit like me as a teenager - overly sassy, a bit too confident and full of awesomesauce. A good book overall. :) I like the epilogue and wish it had been published with the book. It's worth a read over on her webpage. It sums up a lot of what the book left at loose ends.
