I got it to learn as much Greek as possible in about six months, before I go to Greece. I just cracked it open a few days ago, and already I am speaking in full sentences. Granted, they are guided sentences, but I have already pieced together quite a few novel sentences using the vocabulary and grammar I have already picked up. I'm impressed, and I know enough about language learning that being impressed by a piece of software is a pretty big statement for me.
Initially I thought I would just learn the absolute basics, enough to survive Greece by myself without an interpreter. But I'm only on level 1, unit 1, lesson 3, and I already see that I am going to learn (and retain) a lot more than survival Greek. I haven't peeked ahead at level two yet, but, judging by how much is packed into the first three lessons, I would guess that each level is superior to an entire semester of a college class, at roughly a third of the price.
My only wish so far is that it came with a very basic book of grammar and spelling rules. I do think the program is well-designed, providing careful contrast in each phrase/sentence so that you can figure out the rules as you go, which is the most natural way of doing it.Read more ›
On top of all of this Rosetta Stone expected me to pay more money to continue my studies past 90 days. Not what I call a company interested in teaching anything other than how to make money from the unsuspecting. It has slick packaging and photographs but little in the way of helping me to learn and retain. My recommendation is to skip it.
The writing exercises are worthless. Not only do you have to know exactly what is being said, you have to remember all of the spelling with no practice. I have to skip them. The software could really use some writing skills development. If you want to learn to write Greek, I would not start here.
Also, they have a function that will slow down the pronunciation of sentences however it is near useless because that is what it is a slowed down version of the exact same recording. It could benefit from someone speaking the sentences slower and emphasizing the pronunciation. The software does not take you through the pronunciation word by word. So if you are having trouble with a particular word, there is not help for you from the software.
And the coupe de grais is this. I bought my software two months ago. It came with an analog headset that did not work with my computer. So I improvised with a microphone and headseat, which work with the software. Today I had my first tutoring session. It worked well until about 10 minutes in when we lost sound. I contacted support and they informed me that the analog headsets don't always work so they made it a requirement a month and a half ago that you have to use a USB headset.Read more ›

Great for someone who already knows the basics. Unfortunately the speaking to live person only lasts a certain time period and we missed itPublished 1 month ago by Ajrizzy
No instructions. Video just starts out having you repeat words that you have no idea of their meaning. Got bored with it after the first day. Expensive, hard lesson learned.Published 12 months ago by Dennis
This is an excellent program that is most appropriate for individuals with some elementary knowledge of Greek.Published 22 months ago by Charlakos
