DO NOT USE THE DRIVER DISC if you have Windows 10.
Took me an hour to figure out I had to restore my computer and let windows sort out the drivers itself. It's working well so far.
To be fair it didn't say it had windows 10 drivers. But their last driver update on their site was Feb 2017, but once I downloaded them, I could see the files were from 2011 or 12.
Make sure to check that you have proper clearance for these cards. They're tiny, but if your gfx cards are taking up a ton of space, it might be tricky to get the power cable to it. My psu is modular, so I've luckily got extra cables and slots I can run to these additions without having to rewire the whole thing.
Pro's: Quick and easy install, ultra fast transfer rates, Rosewill A+ quality, affordable upgrade in case your motherboard only has USB2.0 and you have new USB3.0 devices.
Con's: Can't really think of any tbh, purchasing this product was about as painless as it could be.
Connected this card to this HDD dock: Plugable USB 3.1 Gen 2 10Gbps SATA Upright Hard Drive Dock and SSD Dock (includes both USB-C and USB 3.0 cables, supports 10TB+ drives) and ran a benchmark using an Intel 730 series SSD
Not getting the full SSD throughput as you would on direct Sata3, but that is to be expected. Still getting pretty decent speeds.
The connector on the back fits the cables well, and extrudes out enough to clear the metal on the case allowing the cable to fully seat correctly.
I would buy this again
I've got plenty of molex power connectors, but no 15 pin SATA, so I'm temporarily humped.
I'm trying to use this for a Kinect, but lacking a direct power connection I get a power error message in the device manager and failures in the Kinect Configuration Verifier. And yes I am using the Kinect power adapter for windows with the Kinect.
This worked once with the Rift, then Oculus Home started complaining that the sensor was plugged into an incompatible port and wouldn't let me launch games. Just bought the Inateck card recommended in Oculus's "USB Compatibility" FAQ, but I'm going to keep this card because it's cheap and I can always use more USB ports.
