This key contains hex values mapping the remote buttons to PS/2 scan codes. First value is the remote key, last three values are the PS/2 code. So for example, an entry like
maps the "pics" key to win+5, launching my image browser. The hex codes for all the buttons on this remote (except Radio... it's a mystery!) are:
1b skip back
1a skip fwd
0d win key
24 dvd menu
Pros: Works with Windows 7 and 8.1 Media Center. Works with Intel NUC IR sensor out of the box. Very durable (this is my second one after my dog chewed the first. It still works but looks gnarly so I wanted a shiny new one.) Works with XBOX 360.
Cons: Not backlit, not universal.
The USB extension that comes with the receiver is easily adequate to use a rear USB port and still position the receiver where it's an easy target.
Remote control quality is quite good too and doesn't feel cheap like so many of the cheap remotes that are included with TV tuners, etc.
I use Windows 7 with Windows Media Center as my prime HTPC engine (HDHomeRun Prime Tuner in background). I simply plugged in the IR dongle into the front of my case, and windows did the rest! It automatically recognized the device, downloaded and installed the appropriate software. In 2 minutes I was up and running. All the buttons are preconfigured to work with WMC!
Fairly decent range. Perhaps better than my k400, which probably has more to do with how a remote is held (in one hand, pointed at something), versus a keyboard(laying down). The sleep button is great, as I can wakeup and put to sleep the my HTPC very simply (if you have an SSD running your OS, the response time is quite impressive). The remote functions well with Netflix within WMC too. The builtin functions makes setting changes in WMC easy to find and make.
The dongle itself is a valuable commodity as you can pair it with other remote options such as the popular Logitech Harmony universal remote series. The price of this package is worth it just for the dongle!
I am looking forward to trying this with my Raspberry pi running XBMC and will update the review with the results. For now I'm very happy with this on my main HTPC!

works perfectly. I bought this mostly for the IR dongle, but the remote comes in handy too. I was able to map the IR dongle to a harmony remote which is great!Published 9 days ago by Robert McMahon
Nice and compact, solid, decent quality remote. Buttons function as they should. The range is decent too, especially when you attach it to a USB extension cord. Read more
This is the best one I have found to use on Kodi. Just plug it in and it works.Published 4 months ago by Clayton D. Felt
To me, such remote controls are perfect if you take them for granted, and I indeed do take this remote for granted. Read morePublished 4 months ago by The Dream
Very pleasantly surprised to find this remote working without a reboot. Aimed it and it worked. In fact it had functions the old MCE remote lacked. Read morePublished 6 months ago by Roger Hammer
I'm not sure if it's the USB dongle or the remote itself, but a lot of the times the buttons don't register when being pressed which is rather annoying. Read morePublished 6 months ago by Daniel
It works ok with Kodi. Not all the buttons do what they should but it is usable. I have not tried it with windows media center. It might work better with that.Published 7 months ago by Amazon Customer
