Product Description

In today's power hungry world you need a PSU that can deliver, and the Rosewill RD500-2SB does. With 500W of total output power there's plenty of juice for the most demanding situations. Dual 12V rails with 31 amps of power provide plenty of independent, reliable power. As in all cases, being well connected is of major importance, and sprouting from the housing are a multitude of mesh wrapped cables to connect all your components. The mesh wrapping keeps things neat and helps to promote better airflow and cooling. Universal motherboard connectivity is ensured with the 20+4 main connector and 4/8 pin EPS connector. All these are enclosed in a flat black housing with multitudinous ventilation holes and a 120mm cooling fan. The smart temperature sensor intelligently adjusts the fan speed according to the system temperature for minimized operation noise. For an added bit of style, the fans are equipped with blue LEDs for an otherworldly look when operating.

Maximum Rated output is 480watts on Primary Rail, 130watts on Secondary Rail. It is overbuilt a bit, so it is a "TRUE" 500 Watt Power Supply. People that complain about blackouts are not estimating their consumption correctly. Anytime you overclock or add to your system, it requires more power. Just overclocking your CPU alone can DOUBLE the wattage demand. Know what your doing before you build up or hot rod your computer. Complainers are just wasting comment space.

Works perfect for what I need it for.
My husband is a gamer, and he built me a gaming computer so I can enjoy WoW with him. This is the power supply he chose for me.
This sucker is a beast compared to what I have owned in the past.
I can run WoW 25 man raids with absolutely no lag ^_^

Bought this because the power supply that came with my case, also 500w was loud as hell, this is great though, good solid cables, easy installation of course because its a power supply and its like 4 screws and a few plugs, but yes, buy this.

Bought in 2010. Today, January 22 2016, it died on me. RIP

Near max capacity it became the hottest thing in my case, and in hindsight I wish I had measured the temps under load. 8 pin connector was too short for both mobos I've had in the lifetime of my PC. I also ended up requiring extender cables for SATA and fans.

My build was:
Mid tower case
Asus M5A97
AMD Phenom II 955 w/ stock heatsink and fan
16 gb DDR3
HD 5770
1TB 7200 rpm HDD
1 optical DVD drive
3 case fans

I think this would work fine if you're doing a build with a smaller board and case because the cables are shorter, and this is not modular. Good for a low key build. Probably not enough if you're calculating needing more than 400W.

Bonus: after six years it was never dusty at all, which is great because I am too lazy to have ever cleaned it.

I've been a fan of Rosewill for a while. This power unit does not disappoint. Very solid build. All the cords are wrapped in a very nice fabric wrapping. It's very easy to separate the wires and place them where they need to go.

Awesome all around.

A fine power supply for the price. I cannot speak to the tolerance of its voltage rails, but for the budget internet machine I built for my mother it's just fine. It's a bit louder than other units, but no more than the average CPU heatsink fan.

I replaced an old psu that had gone out with this one. Similars specs on them. Within two weeks it also died. Thinking I had just gotten a defective product I ordered a replacement. The replacement however also stopped functioning within a week. Very bad psu.

This power supply works very well, I don't need a lot out of it but I like the fact that I still have room to add more components if needed without needing a larger power supply. Very good product.
