Best Budget Priced 8 Port Giga Switch Made - Northern Idaho Networks

While looking for a a wireless N adapter card for a desktop PC, I came across this 8 port switch made by Rosewill. So, I decided to give it a try and when I received it, came boxed in a retail box with power supply and instructions. Very well made, yes, it has a hard plastic case but it is so light. Doesn't get hot but only warm unlike other switches made by Netgear or Cisco that they get hot and eventually give out because of the heat they put out. This is a "green" switch, so, it makes it ideal to run on low power if the port isn't being used or if the cable length is short. But believe me when I tell you that this switch out performs those more expensive models, it does what it does. I'll be buying more of these. Great product! I give it 5 stars.

I found myself wanting to go faster on my LAN for transferring video files back-n-forth between computers and a NAS. I purchased this switch because of the price and Rosewill seems to be consistent with their quality (never had a problem before).
The unit is extremely light and comes across as cheap, but after reading up on it, it's built to be more 'green' than the competitors by consuming less power (which I'm all for). All my ports are filled and it doesn't get warm like my other metal cased switches. I can't imagine how many TeraBytes have been transferred through it without any problems or faults. The difference between 100Mbs and gigabit is night and day...and this unit can prove it.

Something about my old hub would require me to unplug the power from time to time in order to get devices connected to the hub working. This hub/switch never has to do that. It works great with all the peripheral devices, mainly printers, plugged into it and I have not had one issue with this device with about a year of use.
