Got this book for my friend's two young daughters as a christmas present, and they absolutely LOVED it! (they are ages 5 and 8).

My friend told me her two girls loved reading both the English parts and learning the Spanish text, and wanted to make sugar skulls right away! Perfect balance of sweet, charming and spooky; great book to share the joy and message of Day of the Dead for all kids, and a joy to look at!

Def recommend!!!!! : D

Love at first sight! The book’s beautifully illustrated cover drew my instant attention because of the sweet melancholy colors and because of the heartwarming depiction of the departed Rosita. I immediately placed my order on a Monday and then contacted Mr. Gonzalez though the Muertoons Facebook page to ask if he could personalize the book to my 9-year old, triplet daughters. I also mentioned that I was hoping to receive the book by Sunday to share it with my 4th grade CCD class as we discussed Dia de los Muertos. I was pleasantly surprised to hear back from him almost immediately. He agreed to personalize the book and said he would definitely get the book to me before Sunday, and he did. The book did not disappoint! The illustrations on the inside are as beautiful as the illustration on the cover. It is very well written in both English and Spanish, and I commend the author on his ability to rhyme a storyline of this length--and in two different languages to boot! The story is both enlightening and captivating. It is heart-tugging and, at the same time, happy, much like the holiday. As planned, I shared it with my students and they loved it! The book not only served as fun story time, but taught the children exactly what Dia de los Muertos is all about. The back of the book includes a recipe for sugar skulls along with a template for drawing Rosita. My triplets have loved drawing Rosita so much that Rosita’s picture is posted in nearly every room of our home! As for me—a mother of book-loving 9-year old triplets, who’s read countless children’s books—I can honestly say this book is one of my favorites, if not my favorite. A children’s story about celebrating the life of a loved one who’s passed: how cool is that?Read more ›

I have never seen my daughter so excited about reading in two languages and so interested in her heritage. I'm so glad I found this book! It's great. I found myself enjoying it and teary-eyed. It has become a favorite at bedtime. The content is a little heavy, but it is addressed with grace and beauty. I recommend this book for children ages 5+. As a parent, be prepared to answer some questions about death and know that it is placed in the cultural context of El Dia De Los Muertos.

I came across the muertoons booth several years ago at wondercon in SF I thought the artwork and concept of this book was sooo sweet. The people at the booth were so friendly and even gave me a pin of rosita to go along with my day of the dead sleeve.
Well fast forward a few years & I now have a little one of my own. I want to buy him books especially bilingual books and obviously I think of this one! I purchased the book through amazon and when I received it my husband and I were delighted to see a hand draw picture within the cover and we just want to say thank you so much we truly appreciate touches like that!
The book was so sweet and made me choke up a few times reading it to my little one (when did I get so soft?) Can't wait to see what other stories you come up with.

I adore this book! The story is very sweet, it captures and teaches about Dia de Los Muertos very well; it's about love and remembrance. The illustration is beautiful and it's great that it's in both Spanish & English. Sometimes Spanish jokes and phrases don't translate well into English but they did a very good job of making sure the story flows and that it doesn't lose any meaning in the translation. I highly recommend this book

BEAUTIFUL book!!! The whole thing is so beautifully illustrated and the author does a great job explaining dia de los muertos in a very simple manner that kids can understand.

I was also pleasantly excited to find the personal drawing and signature from the author. Yay!

Rosita y Conchita is a cleverly illustrated story of two sisters- one dead, and one alive, that try to reach each other on the Day of the Dead.

the illustrations itself are cute, and for those wanting to perhaps learn a lil spanish, or want to learn a bit about the Day of the Dead, this is a nice read.

it also contains lil tidbits on how to celebrate that day if interested and to make sugar skulls.

great gift for fans of Nightmare before Christmas or coraline. however, Rosita y Conchita's story is much more in a non fiction sense.

amusing sellers on amazon. get the book direct by the creators at muertoons.blogspot.com. get the best deal thus far.

Sad, but sweet story of the Day of the Dead. I like the illustrations- sort of look like Tim Burton inspired them! Touching story about how one little girl honors the memory of his deceased twin sister.
