So i ordered the product as my original military bag from my army days that I had planned to use for my last backpacking trip was getting pretty worn. I had used it for the military (duh) and then many subsequent overseas trip mainly because that's what i was used too and because it can generally fit A LOT of my crap. Life may be easier if i wanted less stuff and I got an actual high-speed backpacker bag with padding and back support....but alas Im bout that grunt life. Lol.
Anyway this Rothco bag i ordered particularly because it was black. I would have preferred to carry a dark neutral tone rather something that is olive puke green when im globehopping.
There were a lot of differences from the original military olive seabag that I use so I sent this one back. One can view the collage shots to sorta see the differences but since my last trip was well over a year ago I don't fully remember the details outside of a few main things.
1. The bag is actually smaller than the original military bag. Enough so noticeably that i do remember immediately testing to see how much things from my old bag would fit in the Rothco. It certainly wasnt as much. The measurement tape pictures show just about everything is a few inches shorter (the side pocket, the mouth, the length). Take this also that this means less volume for storage
2. The material of the Rothco bag was if i recall a denim-like material. I dont know what that means for durability but considering i had the military bag for 10+ years in usage and my jeans can prob last half that i wouldn't be optimistic on it reaching that.
3. Speaking of durability i remember having some concern about the straps and the ability to bear load. When i said i travel with a lot of crap and heavy weight. I meant it. I took pictures of the stitching pattern to show you that the military bag has double and triple cross pattern stitching that means it is meant for not ripping (and definitely didnt despite my heavy abuse). The Rothco just had a fairly regular normal stitch pattern to it.
4. Similarly the strap adjusters and the grommets on the military bag are made of metal and really feel durable (and pretty much are). However, the Rothco one is iirc made of a more hollow feeling plastic like material. I dont remember if the toplock latch was of the same material. Though I do vaguely recall it was definitely different from the military seabag.
In total for my needs and taste I couldn't use it but for a more "normal" civilian traveler i think this might be an appropriate fit for maybe camping or trips where you aren't carrying a bunch or ruggedly abuse your belongings.

This is a very big bag. Great quality! I ordered the black one. I didn't want something high fashion like Calvin Klein or Michael Kors those expensive bags I'm not in the military but I wanted a military-style bad that will last me a long time and this bag will do just that. The reason I ordered this type of baggage because I respect the military people that sacrifice for us so this is perfect for me Eventually plan to put my favorite band patches on this bag. ツーリング用テント、寝袋、ロールマット、焚き火台、鉄網テーブル、ランタン、着替を入れて、バイクのシーシーバーに括り付けて快適ツーリングが出来ました。雨用のカバーとして500円の自転車用カバーも用意しましたが、今回は出番なしでした。
車でのキャンプにも使いましたが、荷物がまとめて入って背負えるので、駐車場から設営場所まで運ぶのが楽でした。
私はキャンプ専用で使うので、テント設営の時にまとめて荷物を出すため、奥の物だけ取り出すことはなく不便は感じません。
がっつり詰め込んで使うと結構重くなるので、気合いを入れて背負いましょう笑笑。生地はかなり丈夫なのでそっちの心配は要りません。
普段使いのリュックとしては考えない方がいいです。
