Don't leave home without it.

Of all the pieces of U.S. military kit I've ever seen (through 20+ years of miltiary service), none equal the Wubbie for value for money, utility, and comfort.

The original idea was a quilted, water resistant blanket that could be attached to a poncho (hence the bits of string on the corners and edges) to make a warm weather sleeping bag. Yes, I've actually heard of people doing this, but this is such a limited vision of what the Wubbie is capable of.

Picnic blanket, quilt, bedspread, couch cover, used by itself as a sleeping back, in survival kits, for air travel, pet beds (with or without human consent) etc. I used to keep mine by the couch for siesta time, but it kept getting stolen. In Germany, soldiers would take an unlined rainjacket and a poncho liner to the tailor and get the best cold-wet weather jacket in the world back.

If the camo is an issue, it is available in solid black and olive green, but I don't care about the appearance.

My Wubbie is not for sale or trade. Get your own and keep your paws off mine!

This is nothing like the silky feeling, lightweight poncho liner from the US Army. They were made in Brooklyn. The fabric on this is coarse and not like the original (and it's made in China). Not worth the money.

I bought this for my husband when he went to Iraq, it keeps you warm AND cool (strange but true) and it folds up to very small. I just bought 2 more for my sister (headed to Iraq) and myself because I love this liner as a blanket! We use them camping and pretty much all the time.

This is a good, light weight blanket that is useful in all weather conditions, but do not depend on it in extreme cold temperatures. This is an Army issue item and does come in very handy when going on hiking/backpacking trips, camping, or for whatever you need to use it for. I have a number of them and use them for camping, hiking, etc. It is also easy to fold/carry in a backpack and comes in handy to put inside a sleeping bag for some extra warmth. If you have a military style poncho, there are strings attached to this liner so that you can tie it to the poncho, wrap up in them both, and stay relatively dry during wet weather. Very indispensible item; These poncho liners come in multiple colours/camoflouge patterns.

I love the woobie, but this is a piece of junk. I only use it twice and some of the threads already broke, plus the stitching is really ugly. Save yourself some headache by getting a genuine poncho liner.

I see that some reviewers have received a genuine poncho liner, while others have not. I served with the light infantry (RTO) and absolutely know a real poncho liner when I see one.

My original lasted many years until I spilled bleach on it. I ordered one from US Cav and got a cheap knock-off. It worked ok, but was not nearly as warm or as durable as the real thing. Since that time, I have been dubious of any online retailer. However, when I saw this one by Rothco, I decided to take a chance. If memory serves, Rothco is a USGI contractor, so I figured this would be right.

To my delight, it was. The product I received is an exact duplicate of the one I was issued many moons ago. Completely unlike the POS I got from US Cav.

The package I got was branded "Rothco." If you get one that is not labeled as such, it may be a fake. Also, In case it makes a difference, when I ordered, the seller was BIGFLYSPORTS. I see the seller on this item changes frequently, so you may want to watch for that.

On a side note; for those who do not know about these, a poncho liner fits inside an issue rain poncho. It ties to the outer grommets. It does not have a hole for your head to fit through, and is not designed to be used as a liner during the normal wear of the poncho (as the name suggests). It can be used on its own as a blanket, or tied into the poncho then the poncho can be snapped up the long side to create a very warm, waterproof sleeping bag.

My father is a Vietnam vet from the 1960's and he brought these poncho liners home with him from the war -- they were all nylon and very very silky .... I was looking for a similar replacement because somehow both of ours went missing. We LOVED them. Used them in the house, car, traveling, etc .... just as a cover or a cozy lightweight blanket for indoors or outdoors. I have seen them called a "woobie" but our family always called it a "snoopy" -- not sure how that came about! At any rate, I was so excited to find these were still available and couldn't wait to receive mine. Shipping was fairly quick and no trouble ordering online. When I opened the package, I was first struck by how *full* this poncho liner is. It seems much thicker than the original we owned, back in the day. Perhaps it will settle and flatten out. It also feels rougher to the touch, not nearly as silky. Another note -- the ties on this thing are poor quality, because I recall the ties on the original one being much thicker and nicer, like good shoe laces. These ties turned curly and flimsy after I washed it, and you can't even iron them out flat. Disappointed about that. I will keep this but I am still in search of the perfect replacement for our beloved "snoopy" poncho liner blankets we had when I was a kid.
