The most popular Roundwound bass string ever. Rotosound was the first string company to produce this kind of string. Introduced in 1962 it changed the sound of the instrument instantly. The favourite string of many players including Billy Sheehan, John Paul Jones and Geddy Lee. Available in all popular gauges and scale lengths. The steel used to produce these strings is unique, combined with a highly secretive manufacturing process.

Rather niche use, but headless is becoming more trendy.
Rotosound RDB66LD Swing Bass 66 strings are wound all the way to each ball-end and unfortunately the original v1 bridge saddle seat is too narrow to fit these strings without modifying (cutting wider and deeper grooves) in the bridge pieces.
If you own an original Steinberger L1 or L2 bass please note that Rotosound RDB66LD Swing Bass 66 strings will not fit your bass.
No winding string ends round the posts and chopping them off, no slippage, no extra pair of hands needed.
But anyway, this is supposed to be a review of the strings, not the double ball-end system, so I'll just say that these Rotosounds are bright and punchy. I'm using them on my Hohner B2ADB and they sound great, even when I lower the E string to C# or D.
