Christa Barnes has an unexpected visitor, Johan Klaas, walk into her flowershop, and her life changes dramatically. A package arrives that will bring these two people together and send Christa on a journey, both physically and sexually. Johan is in the diamond trade, but he is also a dominant, and he wants to teach Christa that she has a perfect submissive side that will compliment his dominance.
Even though the story is fast paced and intriguing, there were a couple of things that bothered me. First, the fact that Christa becomes a totally different woman than what she previously was, her innocence no longer at the forefront. Second, It was annoying that Ms Barker showed the discoveries that Christa and Johan made, regarding the diamond mystery, rather than told in more detail how they came about. That was frustratting
Overall, it was a great quick read that kept me enthralled until the conclusion. The main question I kept asking throughot the book was - Will Christa and Johan stay together or will they separate once the diamond mystery was solved?
Read and Reviewed for Reading Is Our Satisfaction
Agreeing to dinner, Christa meets with Johan, but their relationship quickly turns from a potential sales partnership to something much more. Johan agrees to help Christa trace who sent her the gemstones as well as sell them at a profit to them both and Christa agrees to explore a sexual dominant/submissive relationship with Johan as they travel to Antwerp to begin unraveling the mystery of who sent Christa the diamonds and why.
I’ll be honest, I was really excited to read this book based on the blurb but struggled to finish. I found the characters to be very unbelievable. The fact that Christa receives millions in gems and just accepts they were meant for her pretty much without question while starting a BDSM romance in the same day with a man she just met was just a bit much for me. The plot was thin and the characters superficial and I couldn’t truly connect with either.
I did enjoy the reveal of who sent the diamonds and why and found that to be a sweet moment, but overall this book just did not do it for me. 3 stars.
Oh my, this book was incredibly sexy and engaging and I could not put it down once I started reading. Christa was so relatable, one to go with the flow, and I loved her introduction to submission with Johan. I loved that Johan was all alpha, but extremely caring of Christa, looking after her wants, needs, and her diamonds. I loved the mystery of the sender, kind of what brought Christa and Johan together, and the ending was really great, too! I really liked reading Rough Diamonds and I would recommend Ms. Barker’s books to anyone who loves their romance with a dominant male, a caring lady, and a journey that brings them together in the best of ways!
Christa has a stranger come into her flower shop, his name is Johan Klass - hes not after any flowers but diamonds that he thinks she may have. Sending him away a courier soon delivers a package to her and low and behold what is in the package but diamonds and the not says "for services rendered, more rough diamonds for you, see what you can do with them. Puzzled by the note she contacts Johan letting him know she now has the diamonds.
After a wonderful meal with Johan, he persuades Christa to go back with him to Antwep to make sure her diamonds were safe, and while she is there try and discover who sent the diamonds to her.
Great story, well worth the read.
