This knife is made in China, and I have purchased so pretty decent knives produced in China, and yes there are junk line that are made there, typically found at your local gas station...with that being said, I recently purchased a Case stockman, but returned it because quality and control appeared absent. With that beind said, this is not an attempt to thrash Case, because I have some decent knives from them also. For the price paid, this knife is pretty well put together.....yeah I know about the walk and talk...but for everyday use, my concern is, will it perform as a knife for its intended purpose....and the answer for me is, yes it will. I have knive made by Boker, Canal Street Cutlery, Case, Syderco, Queen Cutlery, etc....some are collectibles for me and some are EDC. The knife that I received came sharp and all three blades were easy to access/ deploy. The brass pins were flush with the scales. This is a Diamond series....so it came with a little display cowboy boot that can be used as a paper weight or holder for the knife itself. Clip point blade, (main) operates on its own spring, while the spey and sheep foot share a spring. There is a little step down from the springs to the blade, but nothing to complain about. The etched frosting on the main blade was a nice touch also. I would recommend this knife. Closed length is approximately 3 5/8".

The Sowbelly is one of my most nicely finished Rough Riders. Springs are flush, scales are flush with the lined bolsters, pins are all flush. The blades are typical for a stockman, clip, sheepsfoot and spey. They are all sharp. All the blades have good snap, and operate smoothly, without the feeling that grit needs to be flushed out of the joints before the knife is ready for use.

The tip of the spey rubbed very slightly on the sheepsfoot blade, which might trouble a collector, but not to the point where it interfered with the use of the knife. In any event, there was room to crink the sheepsfoot a bit more to eliminate the rubbing.

This knife seems to be aimed a bit toward collectors, however. The box is not the usual Rough Rider box. it has a Diamond Jim theme. The shield is a diamond bearing the RR logo. The box is oversized to make room for a plastic cowboy boot in which to store the knife. The boot is decorated with a jeweled horseshoe. Finally, the clip blade has a rather elaborate Diamond Jim etch. None of this frippery was apparent in the online description of the knife. While it does not interfere with the use of the knife, it makes me wonder if I shouldn't just park it on a shelf in hopes that my grandson can cash in someday. Just kidding.

I'm just a girl, clueless about knives, who loves the men in her life. I bought the Rough Rider Stoneworx Stockman Rough Rider pocket knife for my husband that was so wonderful and well received, that I had to find a special one by Rough Rider for my dad for Christmas and found this one. It has "Diamond Jim" etched on the blade, is a perfect size and weight (kind of heavy), the blades are extra sharp, and the outside is really handsome with the black having a bluish green color within it that really catches the eye. It comes inside a nice paperweight black boot with a diamond studded upside down horseshoe on it. The box it is enclosed in tells a cute story about "Diamond Jim" who is a poker player and how this knife is good luck for him. My dad also plays poker, his name is Jim, so this was too good to pass up. Both my husband and dad were oohing and ahhing over this knife and the one I gave my husband. It was adorable to see and it felt good to know this clueless girl did something right!

I was VERY surprised at the workmanship of this $13 knife. There is no slop in the blades, the scales are flush with the bolsters and blades are sharp out of the box. The large blade does have "Diamond Jim" etched into it. It is a hefty knife, so I don't think I'll have second thoughts using it for every day use. It did come in a nice box and I laughed when I pulled out a little blue and grey boot holding the knife. I too immediately thought I should put this on the mantle for show, but I've decided that it feels sturdier than the little Buck Trio I just bought. I think I'll put the Trio in the boot and use the Rough Rider.
