Hi! Thanks for dropping in... You want to know more about me? Well, let's see... I am just an average twenty-something following my dreams. I have a full time "day job" and by night I am an author. Rough & Tumble is a short and sweet second-chance romance.

Peyton just got the best news ever, she landed an amazing job as the team photographer for the Carolina Hogs, so when her friend suggests going out to celebrate, she's all for it. She never expected to wake up the next morning in her ex's bed. Bo was the love of Peyton's life and the one that got away. When he saw someone slip something into Peyton's drink, he brought her home to take care of her, and hopefully getting the second chance they both want.

Seeing how quickly these two fell back together was a bit unbelievable for me. In three days they go from living separate lives, to being madly in love again. I would have loved to see these two find out more about who they are now, instead of just picking up where they left off.

I did love that Bo wasn't an egotistical NFL player, but a good guy who truly loved Peyton, and that Peyton didn't let Bo's fame get to her, but rather continued to see him as her high school and college sweetheart. Their chemistry is amazing, and their banter is funny and endearing all at once.

I love second chance romances, so I was excited to get my hands on this book. Peyton and Bo's story is a quick read, but I couldn't help enjoying their story. I really wish this would have been a longer book, so we could have had more depth into the story rather than a really quick read. Overall it was a great story, but just a bit too short for me and not enough depth.

I’m never quite sure how to review novellas and short stories because inevitably, I always find myself wanting more, while still understanding that it’s made to be shortened. Rough &Tumble by Kristen Hope Mazzola is a light read about two characters who realize that they were happy with their teenage love. I absolutely adored how Bo and Peyton ended up bumping into each other for their rekindling; I certainly never expected it. While it could have been awkward and filled with tension, he played the hero which made me instantly take a liking to him. In that moment, readers established an understanding of the man he was, which made it ridiculously easy to see how Peyton could fall in love with him. I’ll be honest though, she seemed a little timid so I wasn’t sure how I would end up liking her. While I would have liked to see a little more ferocity and steadfastness in her actions, she definitely wasn’t a heroine I could ever dislike. I wish that we could have seen a little bit more of them in their careers, since I think you could have taken these two characters and switched it out with anything and it would have made sense to the story. However, I did find myself being drawn in and completely captivated by these two. Overall, Rough & Tumble is a fun short read that went through some ups and downs but left me wanting an expansion on their story, in the best of ways!

Kristen has an amazing way of telling a story. I pretty much have every book she has ever written. I adore her style. It is quick and gets to the heart of the situation making you involved immediately. The only thing I can say that was wrong with this book is it was too short.

Rough & Tumble is a cute, quick, second chance romance. This short story felt like such a tease. When it was over all I wanted was more. I really enjoyed Bo and Peyton and the connection Kristen Hope Mazzola built between them. I’m a sucker for young love that gets rekindled as adults and this story definitely brought Bo and Peyton’s chemistry to life. I thought it was so clever the way in which they crossed paths again. It was different and memorable, allowing Bo to be Peyton’s knight in shining armor for the night. While I would have loved to see what their relationship was like in the past, the length of this story required Rough & Tumble to be incredibly focused on the here and now. Despite not being able to experience their shared history, Kristen Hope Mazzola relayed their familiarity and easy relationship in a way the reader could still appreciate. Aside from the emotional connection between Bo and Peyton, this story delivers some deliciously steamy moments, and a dose of just enough drama to keep me on my toes. Kristen Hope Mazzola definitely did a great job with this couple and I was surprised at my level of investment in so short a time. Rough & Tumble was a fun, light-hearted read that left me craving more from Bo and Peyton.

Loved Rough & Tumble! It's funny and romantic and just what you need if you're stuck inside for the winter, like me. It will definitely warm you up! NOT TO MENTION, you get a little Hysterics cameo, which, if you're obsessed with The Hysterics like me, is freaking awesome.

Good story, but a little TOO quick. I didn't feel as big of a connection to Peyton & Bo as I have with previous shorter stories. I would have liked to see a bit more of their story, and of Petyon being the photographer for the team. This could just be because I'd just read a book where the football part of the storyline was meatier, as well.

I liked the writing a lot, AND at the end of this story is a snippet for Unacceptable, which sucked me in RIGHT away, feeling a connection w/ Cricket from the get-go. So, the Rough & Tumble story itself gets 3 stars, the writing gets 5 & overall that gives it a 4 for me. Now I'm off to read Unacceptable. : )
