I may rewire it and use it for something, but buyer-beware!
As an electrical engineer, I was able to verify this. Bypassing the switch showed a very nice white light. The switch (if it works) can control either one ring or both.
So, nice light. But buy from Amazon or else you may have to pay return shipping if it arrives defective like mine.
I would guess that the switch either works or doesn't based on other reviews, so don't want to negatively effect the score. So instead of my feeling (don't like it!) I will rate it fair.
This one lasted 30 minutes.
Seriously - don't waste your time unless you are okay with a dice-roll. Too many reviews here confirm this.
Both single-LED settings were bright. The dual-LED setting was AWESOME....but....
Within 30 minutes we both smelled something burning and the light shut off (on it's own). I took the light apart and tried 3 different types of batteries - Energizers, Duracells, and rechargeable Sanyo eneloops. Nothing worked. The original batteries after the light shut off were very hot. (short?)
I went through the wiring closely and found at least two solders that appear to have broken/melted. Tried to fix them but resulted in not only no light; but the batteries getting hotter. I will attempt to diagnose again later.
Strong smell of melting-plastic and melted-solder from the now non-working product. Repair attempts probably a waste of time.

great for on the boat. Work well, provide great light and last a reasonable time on batteries. Have bought extra sets to give as gifts.Published 19 months ago by Brian A. Yates

I bought this light and I am very disappointed. The first time I put the batteries in and the light were on brightly. My brother was curious and hold it to see. Read morePublished on January 27, 2014 by Doan Nguyen
This is super bright, but note that you're not going to get a ton of battery life out of it. But in a tent when you just need 5-10 minutes here or there it's perfect. Read morePublished on December 4, 2013 by Marvin K. Bellamy
Perfect solution to lighting our 10x10 tent. Two different light levels are nice to have, but not necessary. We find we use the brightest level all the time.Published on November 25, 2013 by Mr. T
Good bright light, would have 5 stars if it weren't so flimsy, I know if I drop it from more than 1 foot it's going to shatter. Read morePublished on November 17, 2013 by Brandon O.
This light is a decent interior light for tents. It is suffciently bright, non-heat producing and not a fire hazard. Read morePublished on August 22, 2013 by Dawn B
