Founded in Germany in 1884, Rowenta has a long history of innovation. In 1912, they manufactured their first iron, paving the way for a position today as the world's largest producer of irons. In 1949, Rowenta launched the first iron with temperature control, followed by the first steam iron in 1957- an innovation that would change garment care forever. Throughout their history, technology and innovation have always been at the forefront of product design. Rowenta's new DG8030 Expert Steam Generator is an ironing system for the home that provides commercial results. Available at the touch of a button and on demand, the powerful pressurized steam penetrates quicker and deeper into fabric, providing professional quality ironing without much effort. Vertical Steam feature is ideal for removing wrinkles on hanging garments or drapes and for smoothing and shaping sewing projects. Variable Steam Control adjusts the steam output to specific fabric types. The extra large, transparent, continuous fill water tank holds 33oz, for up to an hour and a half of ironing, and can be refilled at any time during use. The stainless steel soleplate provides a high performance glide, reducing your ironing time. Extra long, 6 foot hose delivers pressure steam for added versatility and reach. The DG8030 Expert Steam Generator is compact, fits on most ironing boards, has a stable base with a 12 foot power cord making it easy and convenient to store. Comes with 1 year limited warranty.

Now on to the actual review. We've only had this iron for a couple of weeks, if I experience any nasty longevity issues, I'll be sure to address them with updates to this review.
Wow, this iron/steam generator is making ironing less of a chore. We'd previously owned the Rowenta Perfect and Advancer irons, both of which my wife sent on one way trips to a hardwood floor, (while the floor survived with large gouges, the irons, unfortunately, did not). After being spoiled with the Rowenta brand, and needing a replacement, we opted for the DG8030.
This thing is pricey! If I didn't require a large amount of clothes ironed, I'd be more tempted to just take everything to the cleaners. We bit the bullet and haven't looked back since. Ironing creases used to take time and a determined effort. Now it's just a quick pull on the steam button, and you're in business. Need to iron out or adjust a crease? Too easy! I can't vouch for using this vertical with drapes/blinds, but for uniforms and dress clothes, I haven't seen better. Combined with a quality ironing board, (as mentioned above), I've cut down my ironing time by more than half.
I especially liked the large reservoir and the fact that you can refill it without waiting for the iron to cool down. If you iron often and can manage the price tag, this is it.
I thought that it would be a drag to take out and set up, but since I iron every two weeks (a mega amount) this iron has been well worth any bulkiness. It heats up very quickly; it has cut down on my ironing time by about half!!! Not only is it faster, but it irons A LOT BETTER! I only ironed because I hated wrinkled clothes more than ironing. This iron has made me feel much better about ironing; it is not such a chore anymore!
So far I have only used it for about 8 hours, it has not required cleaning/flushing yet and I hope it continues to work without any problems. It has been well worth it!
After 3 more months of use it is still performing very well! I have not had to clean it yet. I am expecting the light to turn on any time now and tell me that I have to clean it. I have also noticed that this works very well on clothes that don't really need ironing, but have just a few little wrinkles. You can hold the shirt on a hanger and steam it with this iron (while still vertical) and get most all little wrinkles out. I think this is only possible because of the major steam this puts out. My little garment steamer is a wimp compared to this!
Still using it, it has been reliable and a great machine to have. I tend to let the ironing accumulate, so this is still be best way to get through piles of ironing in a hurry! I should clean it, it does not seem to need cleaning often at all. I have been using filtered water from the fridge.
Several months ago I purchased a recommended cordless Panasonic steam iron and was seriously disappointed. When I iron, it is usually cotton or wool and the Panasonic did not have the heat or the steam to meet the challenge and I had to keep putting the iron back on it's base for reheating--took too long to reheat.
