Just the synopsis is fiercely appealing and original. What I wasn't counting on, and I loved, was the chemistry between the characters even when they were talking and saving people together, and the action-packed adventure behind the royal romance that is half fairytale and half action film.
We've all fantasized with the idea of a commoner marrying into royalty, and this story delivers the dream with very interesting catches. From the first kick-ass chapters to the well-developed fictional country Prince Rikard is from, I loved everything that happened. He's a traditional man, adhering to legendary customs that lead him to marry outside his majestic circle.
The political turmoil his country is going through adds lots of opportunities for action, danger and heroic behaviour. In comes plain Jane, a tourist with a brain and a brave heart, and duty leads to the wonderfully romantic royalty trimmings, and of course amazing lust and passion. I can only say that this newly crowned bride knows how to enjoy an epic climax! :-D
There are lots of things to enjoy; a woman who speaks her mind, a heroic prince who's always in the thick of battle, a country divided and some very cool technology.
Really loved the whole story. One of the best royal-themed romances I've read.
(I'm happy to share my honest opinion about this arc).
In this book we meet Prince Rikard (Dick) Norgaard and Jane. In Nordia it is their custom for a member of the royal family to marry a commoner before they can ascend the throne. Prince Rikard knows of this tradition but has no real need to marry because his father is healthy and strong. Dick however likes to do things that no prince should be allowed to do and that is how he meets Jane. While on a mission she helps him save a group of hostages. Dick wonders could this actually be the commoner for him? If she is how does he get her to agree to marry him?
Jane has never though she would meet a real life prince of course she has heard the tradition of a royal marrying a commoner. However she never believed that that would be her. So when she sees something odd while being held captive she knows she must act. When she finds out who her rescuer is she just can’t believe her ears. The more time she spends with Dick the more she feels for him but she wonders is this just fun for him or something more. Can she be the next commoner to be wed? If she does will she live to have the whole princess experience?
This is a great book that will take you through many twists and turns. There is so much I want to tell you about this book but am afraid I will ruin the surprises for other readers. I will say this book will have you on the edge of your seat from the first word to the very end. I would highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone.
Jane Caswell has finally taken the time to visit a place she had always dreamt of seeing - Nordia and the Nordian Royal Family home. Reaching her destination and having just joined in the tour, she finds herself taken hostage along with the other tour groups by Sydian terrorists. Upon reaching the hostage scene, Rikard signals out Jane and asks for her help, earning his respect and a follow-on date with him when she manages to keep a cool head under fire and aids the monarchy in regaining its control. There are a few cloak-and-dagger twists and even some cool tech that made this more of an interesting read for me, features a good political-upheaval-and-throne-plotting storyline that underlies the royal romancing of Jane by Prince Rickard.
