Motor oil is made from crude oil and is used to lubricate, clean, and cool engines. Types of motor oil include conventional, synthetic, diesel, bio-based, hybrid (blends of conventional and synthetic), and recycled oils. Motor oil varies in weight and viscosity, as well as additives that some manufacturers add to the oil during the refining process. A numerical code system created by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) grades motor oils according to viscosity--the higher the number between 0 and 60, the more viscous (thicker) the oil is. Most consumer motor oils are graded by two numbers, with the first number indicating cold weather (Winter or "W") performance.
This oil has a weight of SAE 10W-40, meaning it has an SAE viscosity rating of 10 in cold temperatures and a rating of 40 at normal operating temperature. Always check your vehicle's owner's manual to verify that this is the correct weight of motor oil for your vehicle.
Full Synthetic Oil
This oil is a full synthetic oil, meaning crude oil is not used in making it. Synthetic oil can be used in vehicle engines instead of motor oils refined from crude oil, and often provides superior mechanical performance over traditional motor oil, including increased gas mileage and reduced engine wear at extreme temperatures. Its complex method of production means it can often cost more than conventional motor oil.

I have an aftermarket gauge cluster on my 250r which monitors the oil temperature. Over the past three years or so, I've tried a few different brands of oil out of curiosity. Now I understand there are many factors in oil temperature, but my oil temp measurements were consistently lower than any other brand I tried with this oil installed. I tried to compare it on similar rides on days with similar temperatures and humidity.
Really, the only 'problem' I can come up with is that since the oil is purple and the bottle is purple, it's difficult to read how much oil you've poured via the sight in the bottle. Nit picky, I know.
What an amazing difference!
This bike has 23k on it and pampered to say the least, every bit of service done at the dealer.
This engine is notorious for super loud engine noises, tappets, lifters whatever you want to call it.
Love the bike, but the noise always made me cringe.
After about 20 minutes on the freeway with the bike after the change, ALL the noise was gone.
Now nice and smooth/quiet engine noise from idle to redline!
Shifter engagement (wet clutch) is now nice and smooth, better than when I got the bike new!
I am amazed at just how well this takes care of the typical noise issues.
I will never use another oil in my bike.
Worth the bucks!
Thought I might have been imagining things, so at my next oil change interval I used the factory oil; my milage
went from 50+mpg to round 40mpg; my gears started shifting louder and harder, and the bike ran about 50+° hotter.
So after about 3000 miles I thought I'd try this Royal Purple stuff again just to see if I was tripping, or something.
Nope, I wasn't tripping, my bike loves this stuff.
I'm not trying to sell Royal Purple, but my bike sold me. I put this Royal Purple back in the motor and transfer case, and
my motorcycle woke back up, able to brake the back tire lose again in 2nd, 3rd & 4th. Not gonna run the factory oil again; that's for sure

This is good stuff but really expensive. My bike seems to run cooler but it's hard to tell. I really don't know if it's worth the extra money compared to other quality synthetics.Published 2 months ago by kenster
