No sooner has Lily arrived in the city where she grew up than she discovers a crisis involving her mother that threatens the future of the chapel. Tori’s father, who still lives in Vegas, becomes a major player in the story, which soon takes a series of unexpected turns. Without getting into spoiler territory, it’s safe to say there’s a lot hiding behind the façade of the chapel and as the revelations unfold, Lily and her family are forced to confront some long-buried truths. A gripping read with strong, relatable characters.
Although this book is very well written with well-developed characters, I found the first portion a bit repetitive. Lily is so fiery about how much she hates being there and is so uptight and guarded much of the time, that her personality kind of stressed me out.
However, once I reached the middle of the book, it became hard for me to put down. Family secrets started unraveling and I couldn't wait to get to the end to see how it all worked out. I was also happy to see that Lily finally calmed down, breathed a little, and had some self-realizations in the end.
Overall, Royal Secrets was a great read that I'd highly recommend.
I would recommend this book for your summer reading....I would suggest you get all her books for your vacation a great way to spend time off visiting Ms. Paterka's world.
