Holly is back with the gang intact and they soon get a new roomie...Princess Selene, a royal pain in the butt that she soon turns out to be! She does have very good taste in pets though! A baby dragon named Sherbert who is adorable in his bratty side, even though Boots doesn't think so!
Agent Meryl is a bit timid at her new job and ends up allowing the princess to adopt a baby unicorn named Penelope Sparklepants. Needless to say, Selene is unique in her name choices.
Posy is acting strangely and changes are in the wind.
A murder, a kidnapping, a snotty Prince arrives and thinks the gang are his servants. Adam and Holly don't agree with him. Lol!
Holly's new store will open soon and a magical creatures sanctuary is somehow connected with the murder? the kidnapping? a rebel with a Stockholm princess? What are the answers? Where are the clues leading us to in this wonderful novel? It's always a joy to revisit Beechwood Harbor and the whole paranormal gang. With Holly stretched thin with getting her potion shop in the Haven ready, Cassie & the Cheif's wedding near and worrying about landlady Posy, she doesn't need a spoled Princess in hiding moving into the Manor. Said Princess is accompanied by her bodyguard, Wes and a baby dragon. Yep, a baby dragon shortly to be joined by a baby unicorn. Not very incognito. No wonder Posy is distraught.Matfers take a worse turn when Princess Selene is kidnapped. Adding baby dragon/unicorn care to her already overlong to-do list which includes figuring out her & Adam, Holly and friends work to figure out why things aren't adding up. Witb twits & turns at tbe end, this story is on par with the rest of tbis excellent series. Which yoy should also read,preferably before this one. You'lk be glad you did.

I loved the baby unicorn and baby dragon. I cannot say I was surprised by the ending. The princess was a spoiled brat. I actually felt more sorry for the baby dragon. He is just a baby! He needed love and affection, not annoyance. Oh well, I must remind myself he is a figment of imagination, but it is hard, so hard to do LOL. As I said in my last review, Holly is so much better than the SPA. Meryl made some big errors. No wonder the SPA wants to hire Holly!

I loved that the focus of the book was on the core characters and the (sometimes changing) dynamics of the relationships within that group - not just the romantic ones but those among friends. Done within the framework of solving the mystery involving their royal guest it was engaging, enlightening and fun. A few odds and ends are left out there as a segue to the next book but I finished this one with a big smile.
