I am not sure if this fits in a different series or if the Kindle Worlds is a Christy world. Christy and friends show up and are minor characters. I have not heard of The Royals of Monterra before.
Now I have read Royal Date by Sariah Wilson. Which is the book for the setting for the kindle worlds The Royals of Monterra.
Marisa Donati is a royal guard of Monterra. In fact she is the first woman to be a royal guard. She is good and leads in numbers but is a young guard who does not really fit in. She wants a promotion to the protection of the Royal family and not just a guard on the woman's quarters.
Christian Di Stefano is Captain of the Royal Guard. He does not think Marisa is ready for a promotion. Marisa is given information that she can try and blackmail the Captain to promote her.
This has lots of action, treachery, honor and romance. It is a clean read. Strong female characters. It is a good fast read.
I bought this on Amazon because I like Cindy M. Hogan books that I have read. I look forward to reading more from her in the future.
This book was kind of fun for me, because not only are there great characters like Christian and Marisa in it, but I love that Christy, Jeremy and the gang make an appearance and actually play a large role in turning the ending of this book into the masterpiece that it is.
I really liked Marisa, she's a strong, driven young woman trying to make her place in the man's world of the palace guard. She knows that she's one of the best in all of the training exercises and that makes her a bit cocky and full of herself. She always feels as though the men she works with are making fun of her and really want nothing to do with her. She doesn't realize that her own attitude is also off-putting for those that she works with. I like that she's really not perfect, and I like that by the end of the book she's able to own up to that. She's also fairly naive, and that's what makes a mess for herself and really for the whole country.
I liked Christian too, he seems to be a decent guy, a gentlemen even. So it's kind of hard to believe when you find out his secret, but no one's perfect, right? I liked that he was willing to believe Marisa when no one else really would.
This is a fun book with tons of adventure and a touch of romance too! You won't want to put it down until you finish it.
The plot line was interesting, and I liked the flawed main character. I only wish it was longer.
It's a book that I "inhaled" more than "read".
