Imagine yourself preparing for the weekend. You've got your favorite bourbon, an orange or two, a fantastic recipe for Old Fashions, ice, glasses and ...wait. WHERE ARE THE SWIZZLE STICKS! After a lengthy and harrowing household emergency by which no swizzle sticks could be found, I was crestfallen. But what was I to do? Use some lowly Polynesian drink umbrella in my Old Fashioned? A swizzel stick is a manly utensil used for enjoying fine bourbon! This is NOT some Jimmy Buffet rum-drink-puke-fest replete with a fake parrot and a crass eye patch! This is refined bourbon consumption irregardless of excess! I set about to rectify the situation by ordering in bulk. You get 48 of these finely crafted polypropylene babies in every order. FORTY EIGHT! That's a lot of Old Fashioned's! They are crystal clear, smooth and round and perfectly suited to reside in a refined bourbon glass. If you think a big gulp cup, hoisted from some seven eleven is refined, you may experience issues ...such as lost swizzel sticks in the bottom of your cup or dental hygiene and financial instability but buck up, my young friend! My roommate and I drink a ton of coffee. We are also really lazy. Over the years we have used the swizzle sticks that we have collected from restaurants and bars. You know, those cool ones that are personalized for the business. It was a fun collection and didn't cost us anything extra. Those swizzle sticks made for great, reusable coffee stirrers.

But over time we slowly broke all of them. They would end up in the garbage disposal or snap in half in the dishwasher for one reason or another. So instead of waiting to replenish by buying a bunch of drinks at a bar, I decided to just be an adult for five seconds and buy some in bulk. These clear swizzle sticks fit the bill and we should have enough to last for another couple of years. They are sturdy, dense plastic that stand up well to the hot coffee and even hotter wash cycle of the dishwasher.

We didn't buy these to use as cocktail stirrers, but to use as a prop for our wedding centerpieces. The theme was The Greatest Showman (marries Wicked) and we used these as a cane for The Greatest Showman (my fiance). It was the perfect size! The are very versatile as we also used them as attaching sticks. We had pictures of ourselves and wanted the pictures to stick out of our donut cake. We used duct tape and adhered the top of the stirrer to the back of the picture, then stuck the bottom of the stirrer into the donut cake. We had no idea when we bought these just how handy (and sturdy) they would be!

Finding a sturdy stirrer was not easy. These drink stirrers are smooth and sturdy. They are round, solid, and not hollow or flat. The reason for the rating of less than 5 stars is that at the top of the stirrer where it was manufactured is piece of plastic that is sharp. It is obviously from where they were disconnected from the form as they mass produced this product. I just took a nail file and rounded it out making it smooth. It is a pain to have to do this but they are sturdy and what I wanted for my guests.

these are great. was getting my coffee bar together and saw these while browsing. thought meh they look pretty good and come in a variety of colors - got clear and red. they are great. use them for mixing honey or sugar into my tea or coffee - honey in tea sugar in coffee. washable. I know someone said they are dishwasher safe but I don't want them falling through the cracks so I just wash them by hand - please a swipe with the sponge and they are clean. tried skewering a grape but it just shot out from under the stick - will try again with a fruit that doesn't have such a smooth skin.
