Top customer reviews
I bought this 2 years ago. At the time, I read the reviews and the vast majority complained of it leaking in no time at all, but i'm a decent plumber so thought id give it a shot FOR THE PRICE.
The body construction is excellent. This thing is well built and HEAVY. The finish is excellent. 2 years on - no tarnishing or corrosion whatsoever. It looks as good as the day I installed it.
When I took it out of the box, I was very surprised by the quality, I wasn't expecting that for <$70.
It is also simply constructed and EASY TO DISASSEMBLE. Thats important for the next bit.
The cons (and the EASY FIX to what most people are complaining about)
IT LEAKS. It did, I have to admit. It leaked from the swivel joints in the main body. Most people complain it leaked after 2-6 months of use, the reason it leaked is because with use it LOOSENS up a bit and all you need to do is remove the spring body at the top, access the nut which tightens the whole thing up, a quarter turn and hey presto. I actually disassembled the whole thing to check the O rings. They where fine, so I gave them each a slap of silicone grease, reassembled, and applied a drop of thread lock on the nut, tightening enough to where it moves freely, but snugly.
It took me 10 MINUTES.
Some complain its a pig to install
Yep, the main issue here is where the supply pig tails screw in. There isn't enough access.
2 choices here
1. MAKE a couple of pig tail extenders from 10mm copper (from stuff easily available HomeDepot etc). If you can't be bothered messing with soldering and all that then:
2. (AS I DID) Use thread tape (PFTE) and then screw in tight with long nose needle piers. 2 years on, and 3 removals and refits (new sink, new countertop) = no leaks from there.
TIP. when installing it is top heavy and a bit awkward. There is a small hex grub screw an inch or so up the base, below the faucet handle, loosen that and the whole unit removes so all you have to fit is the base to the sink. Also enables you to re-grease those O rings too. MUCH easier.
The other complaints are the spring is too stiff (it is, but not that bad and eases up with use - like I said, this thing is WELL BUILT), and the reach of the main spout is too short for a double sink. Yep. I had it on a double and it was, but I've since installed a single bowl farmhouse sink, and it works PERFECT. So, point there is fit it on a single bowl.
So overall, my review is 4*. It looses a star for the aforementioned fettling, but the construction and PRICE definitely earns 5*
I mean, your talking $200+ for a Grohle or similar, I actually saw one (before I bought this) for $350.
If the manufacturer is reading this, then just assemble it a bit better. Put a bit of thread lock on the tightening nut, and sort out the awkward access to the supply pigtails and you have an excellent product for a superb price.
I for one, am VERY HAPPY with this purchase. Very happy indeed.
I can not recommend this faucet. I want to but I can't. As for the leaking that has been consistent the seller says " it's too difficult to repair" and they offered to send me a new one if I would pay shipping. Really? Do I want another faucet only to go through the replacement process and ultimately it can't be fixed if it happens again? So... one star. A video of the faucet in action is - [...]
A few weeks ago review: After a year, I still love looking at this faucet. It's best to believe the reviews that talk about leaking, though. It does and it will. It's up to me to stay vigilant about mopping up the countertop and jiggling the faucet components for a better seal. Eventually this leaking will take it's toll on the butcher block countertop. I will contact the company and alter this review if they are responsive. If you are reading this, you can assume that I've not heard back.
I'm a big fan of the industrial design aspects of this faucet. It's wonderfully unusual and resemble fixtures that retail for considerably more money. Now for the down side... some of the fixture "wobbles" a bit. There is a great deal of torque put on the upright piping when the sprayer is in use because of the mammoth spring. Installation into a butcher block counter top with an under-mount sink was problematic because the threaded base of the faucet was not quite long enough. I still like looking at it and hope it lasts.
Typical of most direct from China Chinese brands, there is absolutely no customer service, and the 30 day warranty is clearly worthless. The faucet is inexpensive and sadly cheaply made. Delivery is also anther issue as it will take you about a month to get the item. Everything seems to be made in China, so I never understand why Chinese brands seem to be so poorly made. As stated by numerous other buyers, SO VERY DISAPPOINTNG!!!!!!!
