Must-have for your weight room

I got a 2' x 3' piece and then when it arrived, I cut it in half so now I have 2 - 2'x1.5' pieces. When I deadlift, I put one half under each side of the barbell so that when I come back down and inevitably bang the weights into the ground, I don't have to worry as much about damaging the concrete. Note that I already have padding down on the floor, but it is a much softer pad and does great for human feet, but not so good for a loaded barbell. On that same subject, if I get lazy and leave my weights out on the softer mat for a couple of days, I get an indentation in it that may eventually mostly go away, but often hangs around for a long time if not forever. This harder one seems to do better, though I haven't left it there for more than a day so far.
As an added benefit, the mats lift the bar by 3/4" which as it turns out is very close to where it would be if I had bumper plates instead of the raw cast-iron 45 lb plate as the largest diameter plate on the bar. Now it feels closer to if I were lifting "regulation" sized weights (if that matters to you).
But wait, there's more! I'm not a particularly tall person, so when I bench press, it always feels very uncomfortable to try and get my feet to sit flat on the ground like you are supposed to. Now I can take these 2 mat halves and put one under each foot and that 3/4" actually makes the whole thing feel more comfortable and more stable.
Note that it does have a bit of a smell and it leaves little rubber pills while it is new, but both of those problems seem to have gone away now that I've had it for a little while.
This is one of the best $30 purchases I've made for my weight room. Recommended!

Used the 2x3s on each side of my lifting area and they’re great especially if you plan to drop and offload weight. They take the weights like a champ - there is a bit of piling that’s coming off but I’m expecting it to stop after being used a whole.

These are great. They are very heavy duty and very little to no smell. They are on the expensive side which is why I marked them down a star. BTW- I bought 3/4 inch heavy duty mats from Tractor Supply Co. They are much cheaper but beware they absolutely stink. My kids were complaining about how toxic they smelled in the car and went I finally put them in the room I had to agree. I could not work out with such a toxic smell in the air...it was not worth the savings. I'm returning them to the store.

I bought this to put at the bottom of our deck steps on our patio. (5 steps down) Our 2 year old recently took a spill down the steps and broke her wrist on the brick patio below. I bought this to give a little cushion in case she ever falls again. We've had this for a month...and it is a little dirty in the pic.

It is heavy and stays put. In the event she falls again, it will definitely be a softer landing. Cheaper than multiple co-pays!

Using to extra protection on floors when deadlift/barbell row/

I bought this item and then cut it in half with garden bypass lopper. Wasn't perfectly cut and sheds a bit on the side but its decent enough to do the job. I put each half on the side where the heavier weights will sit when deadlifting for extra protection. I opened it outside in my carport area it was shedding some out of the box and had a semi strong odor so if you plan to do similar I would open it outside and let it vent some. For now I'm satisfied and I think this will do fine when deadlifting 300lbs+ for more protection. I don't drop the weights anyways but I lower them back down best I can . As the weight gets higher its harder to maintain control on heavy lifts so this will help cushion the lowering back down.

This is the same mat as found at Big R, also called stall mats. Big R only have them in 4x6ft, but I needed some 3x4ft which they don't carry. I'm happy to find these here on Amazon, and they are exactly the same other than the size. The price fluctuates quite a bit on Amazon. I got it for $30 shipped, which is a great value. As an aside, I use this to line a cement surface for my home gym. Both this 3x4 and the 4x6ft size mats are quite heavy, and you'd think rubber should stay in place well, but they don't. They side around a surprising amount. 2 months ago my mats are perfectly lined up with no gaps. Now there are about a one inch gap between the mats. They do absorb impact very well. Even with just one 3/4 pad, I feel my floor are well protected. I think that if you do heavy deadlifts and drop heavy weights, I'd put one mat on the floor, with a 3/4 sector of plywood then another piece of mat on top of that, you'd have a bomb proof deadlift station.
