I have been using this to dampen/remove my Nikon camera focus noises from my H2N microphone when it is attached to the hotshoe. This has made my microphone hotshoe mountable. Without it, the focus noise was too high to be acceptable. Placing this between my 1/4-20 hotshoe adapter and microphone has nearly dampened all focus noise. The socket side of this does not have a thread stop, so you can thread a stud deep enough to defeat its usefulness. be sure to have a nut on your stud to allow a tight connection without sinking too deep. If you are using a standard 1/4 inch to hotshoe adapter, this should not be a problem.
